WILLIAMS, George
We are 99.9% positive that this picture is of George Williams, born 1817 in Belmont County to George Williams (DOD 1850 in Belmont County) and wife ??? The younger George Williams and wife Sarah Welch, moved to Jackson County, Indiana, about 1851. Grandpa Williams was in the Civil War, and the back of this picture is marked "Army of the Cumberland". He enlisted into the 50th Regiment, Co.H, Indiana Volunteers, which was connected to the Army of the Cumberland. The description on Grandpa's military documents fits the description of the man in the picture. If anyone can verify or disprove our suspicions, we would love to correspond.
