NEWCOMERSTOWN — Dale R. Baker, 74, of Newcomerstown, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus.

Arrangements are pending at Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.

EDWARD P. FERDON JR.

1936-2000

Edward P. Ferdon Jr., 64, of Antrim, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at his home.

He was born Aug. 11, 1936, in Cincinnati, son of Dorothy Hazel (Hofer) Ferdon of Cincinnati, and the late Edward P. Ferdon Sr.

Mr. Ferdon retired from the U.S. Marine Corps on May 1, 1973, and attended Madison Full Gospel.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edward W. Ferdon; and a sister, Katherine McMillian.

He leaves his wife, Mary Jo (Cutlip) Ferdon of the home. They were married Oct. 22, 1965. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Kimberly) Patterson and Mrs. Shawn (Aimee E.) Long, both of Cambridge, and Mrs. Sean (Lisa A.) Yanda of Antrim; a daughter-in-law, Kristy L. (Kiggans) Ferdon of Cambridge; three granddaughters, Brooke N., Beth Ann and Grace Jo, all of Cambridge; three grandsons, Zackary E. and Spencer S., both of Cambridge, and Jack D. of Antrim; five brothers, Thomas Ferdon, Gary Ferdon and Dennis Ferdon, all of Cincinnati, Mark Ferdon of Batavia and George Ferdon of Bakersfield, Calif.; four sisters, Mildred Witt and Cynthia Frazer, both of Cincinnati, and Judy Eckstein and Phylis Holcombe, both of Batavia; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Aaron Long officiating.

Burial will be in Antrim Presbyterian Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.

ELI FUNARI

1944-2000

BARNESVILLE — Eli A. Funari, 55, of Barnesville, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville.

He was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Bellaire, son of the late Alfred and Maggie (Popicg) Funari.

Mr. Funari retired from Saginaw Mine, St. Clairsville, where he served as a coal miner. He was a Baptist by faith.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Michael, Angelo, John and Pete Funari.

He leaves his wife, Bonnie (Simeral) Funari; two daughters, Hope Funari of Columbus and Amy Funari of the home; a brother, Tracy Funari of Barnesville; a sister, Margaret Davenport of Leesville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating.

Burial will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

JULIA KIDWELL

1916-2000

KIDWELL — Julia M. Kidwell, 84, of Gahanna, died Sunday (September 10, 2000) at New Albany Care Center.

She was born May 2, 1916, daughter of the late Chalsmer and Esther Miesse.

Mrs. Kidwell was a charter member and church historian of Stonybrook United Methodist Church.

She retired from C.N.A. Insurance Co. (formerly Buckeye Union Insurance Co.). She provided part-time "grandma-care" as a baby sitter to many young Gahanna children. She was an avid cookbook collector (over 500) and baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Kidwell; two brothers, Howard Miesse and Emerson Miesse; and a sister Esther Douglas.

She leaves two daughters, Becky Kidwell of Gahanna and Mrs. Rod (Trudy) Johnson of Cambridge; grandchildren, Mrs. Brent (Mandy) Stark and Meredith Johnson; a brother, Walter (Loretta) Miesse of Virginia Beach, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service were held Wednesday at Stonybrook United Methodist Church, with Dr. Gary W. Exman, Rev. Gary G. Boucher and Rev. Marvin Bean officiating.

Burial was in Jefferson Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at Stonybrook United Methodist Church.

JOHN LOWE

1980-2000

CALDWELL — John R. Lowe, 19, of Caldwell, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) in Caldwell.

He was born Sept. 22, 1980, in Zanesville, son of Larry and Jean (Dimmerling) Lowe of Caldwell.

John was a graduate of Caldwell High School and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Homer and Genevieve Abrams and Francis Dimmerling.

He leaves his grandmother, Emma Dimmerling of Caldwell; three brothers, Randy (Karen) Lowe of Zanesville, and Dan Lowe and Rob Lowe, both of Caldwell; three sisters, Mrs. Jeff (Barb) Wiehe of Plain City, and Alicia Lowe and Sarah Lowe, both of Caldwell; a niece; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 4:30 p.m. The Rev. Father Dale Tornes will serve as celebrant.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

BEATRICE REED

1922-2000

Beatrice Marie Reed, 78, of Cambridge, formerly of Chagrin Falls, died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at Red Carpet Health Care Center.

She was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Cleveland, daughter of the late Herbert D. and Marie (Turrie) Fortune.

Mrs. Reed was an executive secretary for Stock Equipment Co. in Cleveland and attended Western Reserve University in Cleveland and also attended Cleveland College. She was a graduate of Shaw High School, Cleveland.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Cambridge and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert D. Fortune Jr.

She leaves her husband, George Reed. They were married Jan. 10, 1943. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Gloria) Heine of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Robert M. Heine of Reynoldsburg and Christina M. Heine of Whittenberg College, Springfield; two brothers, Richard D. Fortune and Raymond D. Fortune, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two nieces.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, Cambridge, with services to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dawn Donato will officiate.

Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.

1925-2000

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Newcomerstown Church of Christ, for Dale R. Baker, 74, of Newcomerstown, who died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus.

Evangelist Charles Newell will officiate. Burial will be in Birds Run Cemetery, Guernsey County. Military graveside services will be conducted by Newcomerstown Veterans Organization.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, also one hour prior to services at the church.

He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Guernsey County, son of the late John Ira and Lorraine (Wyke) Baker.

Mr. Baker was a 1943 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having enlisted in 1944. During his military career he served in Germany during World War II, Korea, and also Vietnam. He was a Chief Warrant Officer-3, missile technician and instructor. His service duties included Wiesbaden, Germany; Camp Chaffee, Ark.; Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas; Fort Sill, Okla.; and Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, Maine.

He was a life member of the Thomas Montgomery Post 431, Newcomerstown American Legion, the Darrell Beiter Post 3303, and Newcomerstown VFW.

He was a member of the Newcomerstown Veterans Organization’s honor guard.

Following his military career, he returned to Newcomerstown and became owner and operator of Baker Excavating, where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club in El Paso and the Masonic Lodge in Lawton, Okla.

He enjoyed traveling, reading literature on Civil War history, studying genealogy and restoring antique cars.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John I. Baker; and a nephew, Kevin Paul Baker.

He leaves his wife, Anna Mae (Rufer) Baker. They were married March 12, 1949. For their 50th wedding anniversary they revisited the chapel at Ft. Sill, Okla., where they were married.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Linda ) Myers of Cambridge and Mrs. Randy (Gayla) Miller of Newcomerstown; two sons, Donald “Kraut” (Lisa) Baker and Shawn Baker, both of Newcomerstown; five grandchildren, Ryan Myers of Cincinnati, Travis Myers, a student at David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Yvonne Whitman of New Philadelphia and Derek and Monica Miller of Newcomerstown; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Nova) Thurlow of Slidell, La., Virginia R. Ames of Coshocton and Mrs. Virgil (Betty) Bliss of Newcomerstown; four brothers, Donald (Doris) Baker, Jack (Ellen) Baker, Gene (Rosemary) Baker and Paul (Elverda) Baker, all of Newcomerstown; a sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” (Mrs. John) Baker of Newcomerstown; several nieces and nephews.

CADIZ — Jean D. Saffell, 77, of Cadiz, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at her home, following an extended illness.

She was the administrative secretary for R&F Coal Co. and Fleagane Management Co.

ROBERT WOODROW CLINE
1916- 2000

WOODSFIELD- Robert Woodrow Cline, 83, of Woodsfield, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 at the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield.
He was born Dec. 12, 1916, near Woodsfield, son of the late Alonzo E. and Arrena E. (Highman) Cline.
Mr. Cline was a retired farmer and a member of the Conner Ridge United Methodist Church, near Woodsfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. During his service in the military he received two Bronze Stars a Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war
He was a life member of the VFW Post 5303, Woodsfield.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Denzil and Eddie Cline.
He leaves his wife, Jean E. (Turner) Cline, whom he married June 10, 1940;
four sisters, Mrs. Herb (Grethel) Shafer of Ashland, Wilma Babcock of
Frazeysburg, Jean Ambrus and Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Fink, both of Newark;
two brothers, Kenneth D. (Rosalie) Cline of Woodsfield and Hilton (Evelyn) Cline of Polk; several nieces and nephews.

1938- 2000

WOODSFIELD- Phyllis T. Hinkle, 62, of Woodsfield, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 at Barnesville Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Clarington, daughter of the late Cedric and Nora (Stewart) Thomas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hinkle; and a brother, Cedric Jake Thomas. She leaves her husband, Elson Lee Hinkle Jr., of the home; two sons, Elson Lee (Marilyn) Hinkle III and James Thomas, both of Woodsfield; three sisters, Barbara McGee and Dolly Huff of, both of Shadyside and Helen Huntsman of Barnesville; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Sept. 21, 2000 at his home

He was born June 28, 1918, in Moundsville, W.Va., son of the late Ora and Sylvia (Goddard) Rothenbuhler.
Mr. Rothenbuhler retired from the Veterans Administration, where he had worked
in Civil Service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a Protestant by faith, & a member of Moundsville American Legion, the VFW, the Moundsville Elks Lodge Moundsville Eagles.
He leaves a son, Rudolph Byrl Rothenbuhler; two granddaughters, Ana and Alyssa Rothenbuhler, all of Tiverton, R.I.; a brother, John Rothenbuhler of Centerville.

1912- 2000

She was born April 12, 1912, in Carter County, Ky., daughter of the late Jim and Goldie (Fannin) Justice.
Mrs. Brillhart retired from Quaker Oats Co., Akron, where she served as a packer.
She was a Methodist by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Brillhart; a son, James Edward Greifzu; two brothers, Milford and Wade Justice. She leaves a daughter, Barbara E. Steele of Ravenna; a sister, Madeline Maxwell of Michigan; and four grandchildren.


CHARLES W. MOSHER Jr.
1931- 2000

WOODSFIELD- Charles Wesley Mosher Jr., 69, of Woodsfield, formerly of
Cattaraugus, N.Y., died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 near Woodsfield, following injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
He was born July 25, 1931, in Gowanda, N.Y., son of the late C. Wesley and Alta (Manning) Mosher. Mr. Mosher was a retired farmer and a Nazarene by faith.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Neil Wesley Howard Mosher.
He leaves his wife, Hope (Vincent) Mosher, whom he married July 21, 1951; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Ruthi) Johnson of Woodsfield, Charlene Casserman
of Barberton and Belinda Beaune of Omaha, Neb.; three sons, William Mosher
of Barberton, Jerald Mosher of Troy, Ill. and Charles W. Mosher III of Ypsilanti,
Mich.; a sister, Deon Thalheimer of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; his step-mother, Ruth Byer Mosher of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
and three nieces.

CALDWELL- Ruby G. Clark, 97, of Caldwell, died Saturday Sept. 23, 2000
at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.
She was born Nov. 16, 1902, near Lowell, daughter of the late Alexander and
Rosetta (Reed) Gates.
Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and formerly attended Lowell United Methodist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Clark, who
died May 1960; two sons, Nelson and Walter Clark; 10 brothers and sisters;
five grandchildren. She leaves three sons, Harry (Madora) of Little Hocking,
Alva (Sally) of :Dexter City and Gerald Clark of South Olive; two daughters,
Ruth Armstrong of Dexter City & Mrs. Okey (Nellie) Poole Welling of Waverly,
W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

1961- 2000

BARNESVILLE - Timothy Michael Inherst, 39, of Barnesville, died Friday.
Sept. 22, 2000 at Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital.. He was born June 19, 1961,
in Wheeling, son of Carol Coss of Somerton, and the late Edward Castello.
Mr. Inherst was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Airborne Division
at Fort Lewis, Wash He was a Protestant by faith and a truck driver.
He was a certified dive master with the Under Water Sports Dive Team
of Washington state.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Inherst;
& a step-brother, Rick J. Coss. He leaves his step-father, James Coss of
Somerton; his wife, Teri McCort, of the home; a step-daughter, Neily McCort of
Florida; a sister, Mrs. David (Cathy) Carter of Barnesville; maternal grandmother,
Gail G. Inherst; aunt and uncle, Wanda and Dwight Thompson; several nieces and
nephews, all of Barnesville; three step-sisters, Evelyn Palmer of Shadyside,
Ruth Ann Rayner and Janet Darrah, both of Bellaire.

DONALD J. OAKLEY
1944- 2000

Word has been received of the death of Donald J. Oakley, 56, of San Angelo, Texas, formerly of New Concord, who died Thursday Sept. 14, 2000 of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 19, 1944, in Sciotoville, son of Rass Oakley Sr. of Portsmouth,
and the late Darlene Richardson.
Mr. Oakley was a 1962 graduate of John Glenn High School.
He had worked for an oil drilling company in San Angelo.
He leaves his wife, Susan Oakley, of the home; a daughter, Devon, a student at Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo.; 3 brothers, Toney (Cynthia) Oakley of Cambridge,
Rass (Sharon) Oakley of Pickerton and John (Jennifer) Oakley of Portsmouth;
several nieces and nephews. Private services were held in San Angelo, Texas.


EDNA MAE RICHARDS
1919- 2000

Edna Mae Richards, 80, a resident of The Beckett House, New Concord, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Kentucky, daughter of the late Melvin and Melinda
Belle (Cooley) Scott. Mrs. Richards had worked at Essex Wire, Lancaster, for 25 yrs.
She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship, Cambridge, and Gleaners of
the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Richards, whom she married Aug. 26, 1953; six sisters; five brothers; a son, Russell L. Bell; and a great- grandson, Kyle Goodearle. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Linda) Wallace of Canal Winchester, Mrs. Jake (Dollie) Bartos of Byesville and Mrs. James (Judith) Love of Cumberland;
two sons, Carl Thomas (Janice) Bell of Reynoldsburg and Melvin Bell of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Ethel Price of Lancaster and Dorothy Holt of Oregon, 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.

CARL J. LENZO

1916-2000

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Carl J. Lenzo, 83, of Newcomerstown, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) of a heart attack.

He was born Nov. 22, 1916, in Dover, son of the late Charles Lenzo and Sarah (Guidara) Lenzo.

Mr. Lenzo was a 1936 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and a 1956 graduate of Eastman Kodak and Professional Photographers of America. He was the owner and operator of Lenzo Studio from 1947-1981 and was a member of St. Francis De Sales Church, Knights of Columbus, Newcomerstown Elks Club and served as president of the Newcomerstown Jaycees and Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, Mr. Lenzo was a member of the Democratic Executive Committee for 30 years and was chairman of the Newcomerstown Democratic Committee for several years. He was a member of the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections from 1972-1988.

Mr. Lenzo served four years in World War II, including 26 months overseas. He participated in the campaigns of Sicily, Naples-Foggea, Rome-Arno, Southern France Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and received a Purple Heart for being wounded in Quaglienna, Italy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora D. Cerana Lenzo, whom he married Dec. 18, 1941, and who died July 1, 1994, after 53 years of marriage, and two brothers, Frank Lenzo and Joseph Lenzo.

He leaves two sons, Carl J. (Arlene) Lenzo of South Berwick, Maine, and Charles M. (Gale) Lenzo of Newcomerstown; five daughters, Nancy (Bob) Wineman of Barnesville, Sarajean (Thomas) Shalosky of Reynoldsburg, Janet (Randy) Addy and Karen Lenzo-Biggs, all of Newcomerstown, and Pam (Michael) Rogers of Newark; a sister, Josephine Herbert of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Dr. Victor Lenzo of Marion, Art Lenzo of Etna and Michael Lenzo of Kent; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a step-mother, Josephine Lenzo of Coshocton.

ARGAH L. FAIR

CALDWELL — Argah L. Fair, 51, of Pleasant City, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville, following a brief illness.

She was born in Caldwell, daughter of the late Dallas (Bud) and Reah M. Watson Buskirk.

Mrs. Fair was a graduate of Caldwell High School, where she was a member of the marching band. She had attended Ohio University-Zanesville, where she was a member of Gamma Pi Delta, national aonorary sorority.

Mrs. Fair was a former employee of the former NCR plant, Cambridge, and was a national registered EMTI. She had been a member of the Pleasant City Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years and served as a member of Pleasant City Village Council. She was also a member of Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church.

She leaves her husband, Thomas R. Fair, whom she married April 17, 1979; a step-son, Raymond E. (Tracy) Fair of Byesville; her step-mother, Mary Jane Berry of Salesville; and three step-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Pastors Ralph Summer, Kirk Gable and Francis LaFollette will officiate.

BARNESVILLE — Elizabeth M. Doster, 87, of Barnesville, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Barnesville Hospital.

She was born Dec. 11, 1912, in Darmstadt, Germany.

Mrs. Doster was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Doster, and a brother.

She leaves her companion of many years, Robert Kinson of the home; a son, Gunther (Heidi) Zimmer of Belmont, Mass.; a sister, Margaret Roder of Darmstadt, Germany; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will immediately follow.

HAROLD CAHOON

1912-2000

COSHOCTON — Harold Cahoon, 88, of Elgin, Ill., formerly of Coshocton, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at Sherman West Court, Elgin, Ill.

He was born April 1, 1912, in Wellston, son of the late William and Clara (Zinn) Cahoon.

Mr. Cahoon retired from Simco Peabody Coal Co. in 1974, after serving 40 years as a coal miner. During his retirement years he and his wife owned and operated Cahoon Candles.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coshocton, and United Mine Workers Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda May Rawlins, on April 12, 1999. They were married Jan. 20, 1937. Also deceased are five sisters and a brother.

He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mahmoud (Diane) Abdel Aal of Columbus, Mrs. John (Georgia) Albert of Claysville and Mrs. Moses (Billie) Otunga of Elgin, Ill.; a son, Thomas (Rebecca) Cahoon of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, William (Eileen) Cahoon of Springfield and George (Polly) Cahoon of Urbana; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Given Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Andrew Rawlins officiating.

BETHESDA — Dorothy (Smith) Gossett, 80, of Bannock, died Sunday (Sept. 17, 2000) at East Ohio Regional Medical Hospital, Martins Ferry.

She was born June 12, 1920, in Bannock, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Carlisle) Smith.

Mrs. Gossett was a retired postmaster at Bannock post office and a member of Bannock United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Clyde and William Smith; three sisters, Virginia Debertrand, Mary Devault and Sara Hinkle.

She leaves her husband, J. Lyle Gossett; a son, John Gossett of Bannock; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Bethesda, and also from noon until time of services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ken Kelley will officiate.

Burial will be in Morristown Union Cemetery.

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Barbara A. Mardis, 53, of Newcomerstown, died Friday (Sept. 15, 2000).

She was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Joseph Martin and Alma (Beal) Martin Boniphant.

Mrs. Mardis was a 1964 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and had worked at East of Chicago Pizza Co.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jones.

She leaves three daughters, Jennifer Jones of Kimbolton and Amy Jones and Stephanie Eckelberry, both of Newcomerstown; a son, Jason Gunither of Georgia; six grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Boardman of Texas; a brother, Joe (Jane) Martin of Xenia.

There will be no calling hours observed.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Moore was a Baptist by faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moore, in 1971.

MANSFIELD — Theresa Phillibena Reiter, 92, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) at the Beckett House, New Concord, following an extended illness.

She was born Aug. 3, 1908, in Crestline, daughter of the late Phillip and Christina (Gaubatz) Reiter.

Mrs. Reiter had lived most of her life in the Mansfield area. She retired in 1970 from the Ohio Brass Co., Mansfield, where she served in the core room and then as timekeeper in the brass finish and brass assembly departments.

She was a former member of the greater Beneficial Union.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Julia Reiter, Eva Reiter, Sadie Reiter, Elizabeth Cracium and Katharine Jaffee; six brothers, Jacob Reiter, Adam Reiter, Frank Reiter, Philip Reiter, Paul J. Reiter and John F. Reiter.

She leaves several nieces and nephews, including John P. and the Rev. Patricia E. Reiter of Byesville.

CADIZ — Clayton Bruce Torok, 59, of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Cadiz, died Saturday (Sept. 2, 2000) at Holy Cross Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Mr. Torok was a pharmacist at Walgreens for 34 years. Prior to moving to South Florida, he was a pharmacist for the former Finnical Pharmacy, Cadiz.

He was a 1959 graduate of Cadiz High School.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Pompano Beach, Fla. He enjoyed music, fishing and the beach.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Torok.

He leaves his mother, Emmaline (Podolski) Torok of Las Vegas, Nev.; his wife, Carol (Vargo) Torok; a daughter, Christine Torok; a son, Mark Torok; and a sister, Mrs. John (Joline) O’Neil of Burbank, Calif.

A memorial mass was celebrated Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Pompano Beach, Fla.

A burial at sea occurred that evening with 35 people aboard ship.

He was born Dec. 12, 1916, near Woodsfield, son of the late Alonzo E. and Arrena E. (Highman) Cline.
Mr. Cline was a retired farmer and a member of the Conner Ridge United Methodist Church, near Woodsfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. During his service in the military he received two Bronze Stars a Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war
He was a life member of the VFW Post 5303, Woodsfield.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Denzil and Eddie Cline.
He leaves his wife, Jean E. (Turner) Cline, whom he married June 10, 1940;
four sisters, Mrs. Herb (Grethel) Shafer of Ashland, Wilma Babcock of

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hinkle; and a brother, Cedric Jake Thomas. Mr. Inherst was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Airborne Division
at Fort Lewis, Wash He was a Protestant by faith and a truck driver.
He was a certified dive master with the Under Water Sports Dive Team
of Washington state.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Inherst;

Word has been received of the death of Donald J. Oakley, 56, of San Angelo, Texas, formerly of New Concord, who died Thursday Sept. 14, 2000 of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 19, 1944, in Sciotoville, son of Rass Oakley Sr. of Portsmouth,
and the late Darlene Richardson.
Mr. Oakley was a 1962 graduate of John Glenn High School.
He had worked for an oil drilling company in San Angelo.

She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Kentucky, daughter of the late Melvin and Melinda
Belle (Cooley) Scott. Mrs. Richards had worked at Essex Wire, Lancaster, for 25 yrs.
She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship, Cambridge, and Gleaners of
the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Richards, whom she married Aug. 26, 1953; six sisters; five brothers; a son, Russell L. Bell; and a great- grandson, Kyle Goodearle. She was born May 26, 1908, in Moundsville, W.Va., daughter of the late James Lindsay and Lucy Frances (Staggers) Wright. Miss Wright was a former caregiver of the elderly for several years and was a member of the Woodsfield United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Haslam and Thelma Litman; a brother, Carl Wright; a nephew, Coleman Litman. She leaves 2 sisters, Alice Stanley of Woodsfield and Mrs. Rudy (Edna) Olson of Green Bay, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Wright Neff of New Martinsville, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews, including Connie Wright,her caregiver.

BETHESDA - Dorothy Mae Kratz, 86, of Columbus, formerly of California and Belmont, died Thursday Sept. 21, 2000 at Whetstone Care Center, Columbus. She was born May 25, 1914, in Belmont, daughter of the late William & Emma (Hummel)Kratz. Miss Kratz was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Army Major nurse during World War II and also in Korea, making a career in the military.
She was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Columbus. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Kratz; a foster brother, Harold Fields. She leaves a sister, Betty Saxman of Dublin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Kratz of Salem, Va.; two nieces, Kim Balzano and Kassie Hurley, both of Columbus. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Bethesda, with services to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Vicky Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery.

ROBERT WOODROW CLINE
1916- 2000

WOODSFIELD- Robert Woodrow Cline, 83, of Woodsfield, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 at the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield.
He was born Dec. 12, 1916, near Woodsfield, son of the late Alonzo E. and Arrena E. (Highman) Cline.
Mr. Cline was a retired farmer and a member of the Conner Ridge United Methodist Church, near Woodsfield.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. During his service in the military he received two Bronze Stars a Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war
He was a life member of the VFW Post 5303, Woodsfield.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Denzil and Eddie Cline.
He leaves his wife, Jean E. (Turner) Cline, whom he married June 10, 1940;
four sisters, Mrs. Herb (Grethel) Shafer of Ashland, Wilma Babcock of
Frazeysburg, Jean Ambrus and Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Fink, both of Newark;
two brothers, Kenneth D. (Rosalie) Cline of Woodsfield and Hilton (Evelyn) Cline of Polk; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Monday, with Harold B. Kinney Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.

WOODSFIELD- Phyllis T. Hinkle, 62, of Woodsfield, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 at Barnesville Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Clarington, daughter of the late Cedric and Nora (Stewart) Thomas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hinkle; and a brother, Cedric Jake Thomas. She leaves her husband, Elson Lee Hinkle Jr., of the home; two sons, Elson Lee (Marilyn) Hinkle III and James Thomas, both of Woodsfield; three sisters, Barbara McGee and Dolly Huff of, both of Shadyside and Helen Huntsman of Barnesville; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with services to follow at 3 p.m., with the Revs. William Graham and Lloyd Hill officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

He was born June 28, 1918, in Moundsville, W.Va., son of the late Ora and Sylvia (Goddard) Rothenbuhler.
Mr. Rothenbuhler retired from the Veterans Administration, where he had worked
in Civil Service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a Protestant by faith, & a member of Moundsville American Legion, the VFW, the Moundsville Elks Lodge Moundsville Eagles.
He leaves a son, Rudolph Byrl Rothenbuhler; two granddaughters, Ana and Alyssa Rothenbuhler, all of Tiverton, R.I.; a brother, John Rothenbuhler of Centerville.

She was born April 12, 1912, in Carter County, Ky., daughter of the late Jim and Goldie (Fannin) Justice.
Mrs. Brillhart retired from Quaker Oats Co., Akron, where she served as a packer.
She was a Methodist by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Brillhart; a son, James Edward Greifzu; two brothers, Milford and Wade Justice. She leaves a daughter, Barbara E. Steele of Ravenna; a sister, Madeline Maxwell of Michigan; and four grandchildren.


CHARLES W. MOSHER Jr.
1931- 2000

WOODSFIELD- Charles Wesley Mosher Jr., 69, of Woodsfield, formerly of
Cattaraugus, N.Y., died Friday Sept. 22, 2000 near Woodsfield, following injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
He was born July 25, 1931, in Gowanda, N.Y., son of the late C. Wesley and Alta (Manning) Mosher. Mr. Mosher was a retired farmer and a Nazarene by faith.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Neil Wesley Howard Mosher.
He leaves his wife, Hope (Vincent) Mosher, whom he married July 21, 1951; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Ruthi) Johnson of Woodsfield, Charlene Casserman
of Barberton and Belinda Beaune of Omaha, Neb.; three sons, William Mosher
of Barberton, Jerald Mosher of Troy, Ill. and Charles W. Mosher III of Ypsilanti,
Mich.; a sister, Deon Thalheimer of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; his step-mother, Ruth Byer Mosher of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
and three nieces.

CALDWELL- Ruby G. Clark, 97, of Caldwell, died Saturday Sept. 23, 2000
at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.
She was born Nov. 16, 1902, near Lowell, daughter of the late Alexander and
Rosetta (Reed) Gates.
Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and formerly attended Lowell United Methodist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Clark, who
died May 1960; two sons, Nelson and Walter Clark; 10 brothers and sisters;
five grandchildren. She leaves three sons, Harry (Madora) of Little Hocking,
Alva (Sally) of :Dexter City and Gerald Clark of South Olive; two daughters,
Ruth Armstrong of Dexter City & Mrs. Okey (Nellie) Poole Welling of Waverly,
W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

1961- 2000

BARNESVILLE - Timothy Michael Inherst, 39, of Barnesville, died Friday.
Sept. 22, 2000 at Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital.. He was born June 19, 1961,
in Wheeling, son of Carol Coss of Somerton, and the late Edward Castello.
Mr. Inherst was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Airborne Division
at Fort Lewis, Wash He was a Protestant by faith and a truck driver.
He was a certified dive master with the Under Water Sports Dive Team
of Washington state.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clarence Inherst;
& a step-brother, Rick J. Coss. He leaves his step-father, James Coss of
Somerton; his wife, Teri McCort, of the home; a step-daughter, Neily McCort of
Florida; a sister, Mrs. David (Cathy) Carter of Barnesville; maternal grandmother,
Gail G. Inherst; aunt and uncle, Wanda and Dwight Thompson; several nieces and
nephews, all of Barnesville; three step-sisters, Evelyn Palmer of Shadyside,
Ruth Ann Rayner and Janet Darrah, both of Bellaire.

1944- 2000

Word has been received of the death of Donald J. Oakley, 56, of San Angelo, Texas, formerly of New Concord, who died Thursday Sept. 14, 2000 of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 19, 1944, in Sciotoville, son of Rass Oakley Sr. of Portsmouth,
and the late Darlene Richardson.
Mr. Oakley was a 1962 graduate of John Glenn High School.
He had worked for an oil drilling company in San Angelo.
He leaves his wife, Susan Oakley, of the home; a daughter, Devon, a student at Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo.; 3 brothers, Toney (Cynthia) Oakley of Cambridge,
Rass (Sharon) Oakley of Pickerton and John (Jennifer) Oakley of Portsmouth;
several nieces and nephews. Private services were held in San Angelo, Texas.


EDNA MAE RICHARDS
1919- 2000

Edna Mae Richards, 80, a resident of The Beckett House, New Concord, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Kentucky, daughter of the late Melvin and Melinda
Belle (Cooley) Scott. Mrs. Richards had worked at Essex Wire, Lancaster, for 25 yrs.
She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship, Cambridge, and Gleaners of
the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alfred Richards, whom she married Aug. 26, 1953; six sisters; five brothers; a son, Russell L. Bell; and a great- grandson, Kyle Goodearle. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Linda) Wallace of Canal Winchester, Mrs. Jake (Dollie) Bartos of Byesville and Mrs. James (Judith) Love of Cumberland;
two sons, Carl Thomas (Janice) Bell of Reynoldsburg and Melvin Bell of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Ethel Price of Lancaster and Dorothy Holt of Oregon, 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren.

at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, with a short service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan
