EILEEN D. GAZAWAY
CALHOUN, Ga. — Eileen D.
Gazaway, 63, of the Plainville Community, died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000) at her
home, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 23,
1937, in Cambridge, Ohio, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Atlee DeVolld.
Mrs. Gazaway had
formerly resided in Highlands, N.C., for many years, recently relocating to
Plainville Community after her marriage to John Gazaway.
She was active in the
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program of Gordon County, and leaves one of each,
Little Sister Amber and Little Brother Rocky of Gordon County.
She leaves her husband,
John A. Gazaway of Plainville; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Nasser of Scottsdale,
Ariz., and Mark (Marsha) Nasser of Zanesville; three grandchildren; three
great-grandchildren; a brother, John DeVolld of Yarington, Nev.; two sisters,
Charlotte “Sherry” Vander Berg of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Juanita Joan Custer
of Booneville, Ind.; two step-sons, Mark Gazaway of Savannah and Jeff (Scarlett)
Gazaway of Plainville; two step-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 6
p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday
at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Horne officiating.

CLARENCE E. SOWERS
ZANESVILLE — Clarence E.
Sowers, 93, of Zanesville, died Sunday (Oct. 1, 2000) at Genesis Health Center,
Zanesville.
He was born Feb. 23,
1907, in Zanesville, son of the late James and Elizabeth (Temple) Sowers.
Mr. Sowers retired from
the federal government, after 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran,
having served on the USS Langley, “the first airplane carrier,” as helmsman and
on the Battleship USS Texas as first class gun pointer.
He also worked for
Curtis Wright, Columbus, Quality Furniture, Zanesville, and for the Civil
Defense Department, both in Zanesville and Shelby.
He was an active member
of the North Terrace Church of Christ, where he served as an elder for more
than 50 years. He also served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school
superintendent and chairman of the board at the church.
He was known by many as
an avid fisherman, storyteller and candyman.
He was preceded in death
by an infant daughter, Nancy Sowers; an infant son, Jimmy Sowers; three
brothers, Richard, Henry “Scoop” and William; a sister, Louise; and three
infant siblings.
He leaves his wife,
Evelyn Sowers; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Pat) Schlaegel and Sharon Derry, all of
Zanesville.
Being the oldest of 13
children, he is survived by, three brothers, Albert Sowers, Bern (Glenda)
Sowers and Bob (Doris) Sowers, all of Zanesville; two sisters, Wanda Marlatt of
Cambridge and Mrs. Don (Betty) Dover of Zanesville; eight grandsons, Jim
Schlaegel of Wilmington, Jerry (Lynn) Schlaegel of Urbana, Jeff Schlaegel of
Zanesville, John (Sondra) Schlaegel of Zanesville, Eric (Michelle) Derry of
Goshen, Ky., Todd (Reny) Derry of Pleasantville, Chris (Candace) Derry of Akron
and Sean (Deanne) Derry of Stow; 20 great grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob,
Abbey, Chris, Megan, Brandie, Brooke, Adam and Jessica Schlaegel, Elijah,
Joseph, Jonathan, Micah, Josiah, Asa, Alannah, Arianna, Tristen, Lydia and SeaŽ
Derry; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bolin Funeral Home, Zanesville, and also one hour
prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
Services will be 1 p.m.
Wednesday at North Terrace Church of Christ, Chapel.
Burial will be in
Zanesville Memorial Park.

Tyo, 29, of Cumberland, died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000) unexpectedly in Old
Washington.

MARY BAILEY
PAINESVILLE — Mary
Bailey, 86, a resident of Madison for two weeks, a former 30-year resident of
Cambridge and formerly of Martins Ferry, died Sunday (Oct. 1, 2000) at Inn Madison
Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 28,
1913, in Canton.
Mrs. Bailey was a
nurse’s aide at Martins Ferry Hospital, and a member of the Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in
death by a son, Clarence Marquardt; her first husband, Carl Marquardt; and her
second husband, James Bailey.
She leaves a daughter,
Patricia Hill of Painesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren.
No services will be
observed.

BYESVILLE — Services
will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville, for John L.
Moore Sr., 75, of Byesville, who died Monday (Oct. 1, 2000) at Bethesda
Hospital, Zanesville.
Evangelist Dick Harris
will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.

He was born June 3,
1925, in Byesville, son of the late Albert and Roxie (Robinson) Moore.
Mr. Moore had operated a
hardware store on South Ninth Street in Cambridge from 1955-1967 and also
worked at Aldon Supply from 1967-1990.
He was a 1943 graduate
of Byesville High School and a member of Caldwell Church of Christ.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Carol Wynn; a brother, Glen E. Moore; and a granddaughter.
He leaves his wife,
Julia Ann (Hickman) Moore of the home, whom he married Feb. 13, 1945; five
sons, Jim (Donna) Moore of Senecaville, Glen (Betty) Moore and John (Doris)
Moore Jr., both of Byesville, Gary Moore of Zanesville, Dennis (Polly) Moore of
Pataskala; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Linda) Fair of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; a
step-great-great-grandchild.
JUANITA ENOCHS
Juanita Sullivan Enochs,
84, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2000) at Southeastern Ohio Regional
Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 9,
1916, in Moundsville, W.Va., daughter of the late Charles and Julia A.
(Burkett) Sullivan.
Mrs. Enochs had worked
at the snack bar at the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital and was a bookkeeper
for Ohio Arts and Crafts.
She was a Protestant by
faith and a member of the Garden Club.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Elmer E. Enochs, on July 27, 1995; two brothers; and
three sisters.
She leaves a son,
Charles F. (April) Enochs of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Charles Robert
Enochs and Christina Linsey Enochs, both of Cambridge; several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where
services will be 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Donald Burris officiating.
Burial will be 2 p.m.
Thursday in Fairview Cemetery, Moundsville, W.Va.
ELEANOR J. SIGMAN
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz.
— Eleanor Juanita Sigman, 74, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died Monday (Oct. 2,
2000) at her home.
She was born April 21,
1926, in Cambridge, Ohio, daughter of the late Herbert William and Rebecca Fay
(Olge) Lowery.
Mrs. Sigman was a
resident of Lake Havasu City for 12 years, having relocated from San Diego,
Calif. She was a server for Burger King in Lake Havasu City for eight years.
She was preceded in
death by a son, Jacob Raymond Sigman II; two brothers, Fred Lowery and Hubert
Lowery.
She leaves her husband,
Jacob Raymond Sigman I of Lake Havasu City; three sons, Timothy Allen Sigman of
Riverside, Calif., Fred Edwin Sigman of Montclair, Calif., and James Rawlin
Sigman of Simi Valley, Calif.; four daughters, Dolores Ann Mankin of Monclair,
Calif., Lillian Faye Dyer and Marsha Ruth Crawford, both of Parker, Ariz., and
Eleanor Elaine Ricks of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Herbert Lowery of
Senecaville, Ohio, and Wilbur Beatle Jr. of Cambridge, Ohio; five sisters,
Rebecca Wilson of Happy Dale, Ohio, Donna Liptoc of Old Washington, Ohio,
Phyllis LaDoucciri of Victorville, Ohio, Bunny Watson of Quaker City, Ohio, and
Dorothy Gulf of Belmont, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

to 8 p.m. today at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, Lake Havasu City.
Services will be 7 p.m.
