Elvin W. Cain, 74, of Cambridge, died 6:45 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 12, 2000) at
Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge.
FREEPORT Oscar Russell Hughes, 92, of Flushing, died Wednesday (Oct. 11,
2000) at
Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville.
He was born March 2, 1908, at Holloway, son of the late Samuel Lawrence and
Sarah Minerva
Hays Hughes.
He grew up in the Piedmont area and was a farmer. He retired in 1973 after
23 years as a
mechanic of heavy road equipment for A.J. Baltes of Norwalk, a road
construction company. He
also loved to garden and watch harness racing at the county fair.
Mr. Hughes attended Rock Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the
Flushing Senior Center.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary
Jackson, in 1992.
He leaves his wife, Doris Crawford Hughes, whom he married June 10, 1951;
two sons, Robert
Crawford and Larry Hughes, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a brother, Ralph L.
Hughes of
Columbus; two sisters, Lucille Howell of Freeport and Anna Mae Beckley of
Cadiz; six
grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Koch Funeral Home, 216
S. High St.,
Freeport, where services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Pastor Robert Merritt will officiate.
Burial will be in Rick Hill Cemetery near Flushing.
WOODSFIELD - Freda S. Lisk, 94, of Apple Creek, died Tuesday (Oct. 10, 2000)
at Wooster
Community Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1905, at Lewisville, daughter of the late Charles F.
and Anna Morris
Stauch.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Quaker City and East Union
Grange.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband,
Charles Dillon in 1954;
her second husband, Lawrence Lisk in 1988; and two brothers, Charles K.
Stauch and Thomas
T. Stauch.
She leaves a son, Charles W. Dillon of Wooster; a daughter, Phyllis E.
Kinney of Texas; three
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Friday until the time of services, 2 p.m.
Friday at Bauer-Turner
Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St., Woodsfield.
The Rev. William Valentine will officiate.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville.
NEWCOMERSTOWN - Albert Eugene Porcher, 85, of Newcomerstown, died Tuesday
(Oct.
10, 2000) at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center,
Newcomerstown.
He was born Aug. 12, 1915, at Newcomerstown, son of the late Albert and Anna
Tufford
Porcher.
He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, Class of 1933, and owned and
operated
Porcher Sand and Gravel and Porcher Trailers. He was a former member of
Everal’s Church in
Newcomerstown, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Melva
Mallett, Helen Shaffer,
Goldie Martin and Wilma Harding.
Mr. Porcher leaves his wife, Alma Thompson Porcher, whom he married Sept..
16, 1939; a son,
Michael Porcher Sr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Newcomerstown; four
grandchildren, Brian Clark
and wife, Joy of Georgetown, S.C.; Michael Porcher Jr. and wife, Ronda, of
Newcomerstown;
Matthew Porcher and wife, Julissa of El Paso, Texas; and Sarah Porcher of
Newcomerstown;
two great-grandchildren, Austin Porcher and Tristin Porcher; a brother,
Kenneth Porcher and
wife, Rosalie, of West Lafayette; a sister, Gladys Mason of Newcomerstown.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Addy Funeral Home,
Newcomerstown. The Rev.
Chris Cutshall will officiate.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Uhrichsville.
