James DeVolld

            PICKERINGTON — James L. DeVolld, 62, of Pickerington, died
            Sunday (Nov. 5, 2000) at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, from
            injuries received from a fall while working on his new home.

            He was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Covington, Ky., son of the late
            Marshall and Irene DeVolld.

            Mr. DeVolld retired from Krogers in Pickerington, where he had
            served as manager. He was a member of First Church of Christ,
            Caldwell, and a graduate of Belle Valley High School and Ohio
            University.

            He was a charter member of Pickerington Kiwanis and a member
            of Pickerington Chamber of Commerce. He was the recipient of
            several community awards.

            He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Mills DeVolld; a
            sister, Claudette DeVolld.

            He leaves his wife of 19 years, Evelyn; four daughters, Mrs. Chad
            (Tonya) Briggs of Caldwell, Mrs. Steve (Rhonda) Bullock of Canal
            Winchester, Mrs. Robert (Brenda) Rockey of Pickerington and
            Deanna DeVolld of Pickerington; a son, Todd (Trina) DeVolld of
            Canal Winchester; two step-sons, Ed (Cindy) Patsch of Lancaster
            and Jim Patsch of Columbus; a step-daughter, Mrs. Greg (Michele)
            Johnson of Canal Winchester; nine grandchildren; two brothers,
            Donald (Imogene) DeVolld of Belle Valley and Richard (Barbara)
            DeVolld of Columbus.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dwayne
            R. Spence Funeral Home, Pickerington, where services will be 11
            a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Jim Garrett officiating.

            Burial will be in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
            Society.

Sarah Patterson

            Sarah Margaret Patterson, 83, of Cambridge, died Monday (Nov.
            6, 2000) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.

            She was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Cambridge, daughter of the late
            Grover B. and Bessie L. (Warne) Calvert.

            Mrs. Patterson retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital,
            where she served as a psychiatric aide. She was a member of the
            First Baptist Church, Cambridge.

            She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn M. Patterson; three
            brothers, Warne, Robert and James Calvert.

            She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Leonard Patterson
            of Cambridge; a daughter, Sue Carol VanAman of Norwalk; a son,
            Jackie Lee (Jean) Patterson of Toledo; two sisters, Mary “Babe”
            Calvert and Patricia Goodwin, both of Cambridge; two brothers,
            Thomas Calvert of Cambridge and William L. Calvert, near London;
            three grandchildren, Beth Ann Michalski of Jennison, Mich., and
            Mindy Walsh and Jill Bauer, both of Norwalk; three
            great-grandchildren, Michelle Michalski and Mallory Michalski, both
            of Jenison, Mich., and Kayla Walsh of Norwalk; several nieces and
            nephews.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at
            Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1
            p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Mark Smith and Evangelist

            Flavil Miller officiating.

            Burial will be in Center Cemetery.

J. George Ross

            CADIZ — J. George Ross, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of
            Cadiz, died Monday (Sept. 4, 2000) in Jacksonville.

            A graveside committal of ashes will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cadiz
            Union Cemetery.

            Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, is handling the arrangements.

Lila Walters

            BYESVILLE — Lila Frances Walters, 75, of Roseville, died Monday
            (Nov. 6, 2000) at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville.

            She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Holidays Cove, W.Va., daughter of
            the late Harold and Geraldine (Kingston) Allen.

            Mrs. Walters was a retired cosmetologist, having owned her own
            salon in Byesville for 15 years.

            She was a graduate of Weir High School in West Virginia and a
            former member of the First Baptist Church, Weirton. She enjoyed
            quilting and taking care of her rose garden.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Walters,
            on April 14, 2000. They were married May 9, 1946. Also preceding
            her in death was a daughter, Lucinda Walters.

            She leaves three sons, Larry A. (Paulette) Walters Jr. of Thornville,
            Leslie A. (Shirley) Walters of Salisbury, N.C., and Lee A. Walters of
            New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a
            brother, Dean Allen of Weirton; four sisters, Janet Paulin of Paris,
            Pa., Genevieve Johnson of Frankfurt, Ky., Betty Baker of Weirton
            and Patricia Carpenter, Queensbury, N.Y.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Black
            Family Funeral Service, Byesville, where services will be 11 a.m.
            Thursday.

            Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
