Thelma Blackstone

            Thelma Fern Blackstone, 84, formerly of Tremont Street, Dover, died
            Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) in Littleton, Colo.

            She was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Guernsey County, daughter of the late
            Clyde Andrew and Bertha Lura (Finley) Vessels.

            Mrs. Blackstone retired in 1977 from Massillon City Hospital, where she
            had worked as a nurses aide. She was a member of the East Union
            Presbyterian Church in Guernsey County.

            She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel ''Clyde''
            Blackstone, on March 28, 1993; and a brother.

            She leaves a son, Jack L. Blackstone of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter,
            Sandra Jolene Blackstone of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, 12
            great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

            Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Toland-Herzig Funeral
            Home, Dover.
           

            Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the East Union Presbyterian Church,
            Cambridge, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Fleming officiating.

            Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas Chapter of the
            American Cancer Society.

Maxine Christman

            WOODSFIELD — Maxine E. Christman, 87, of Woodsfield, died
            Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at her home.

            She was born April 17, 1913, in Calais, daughter of the late Wilbert and
            Anna (Hannahs) Stephen.

            Mrs. Christman was a member of the Seneca Valley Church of Christ.

            She was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Johnson, and a
            daughter-in-law, Wanda Christman.

            She leaves her husband, Grant Christman of Woodsfield; a son,
            Lamont Christman of Columbus; a brother, Clesson Stephen of
            Clairton, Pa.; two sisters, Helma Christman of Miltonsburg and Neva
            Gray of Columbus; two grandsons, Lyndon (Marianne) Christman of
            Galion and Eric (Brenda) Christman of Dublin; eight
            great-grandchildren.

            Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Bauer-Turner Funeral
            Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with Vernon
            Sorg officiating.

            Burial will be in Calais Cemetery.

Carrie Gallagher

            Carrie R. Gallagher, 85, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (Nov. 1, 2000)
            at The Beckett House, New Concord.

            Arrangements are pending at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.
