            CALDWELL — Lulu “Lou” McDonald, 82, of Grove City, formerly of
            Caldwell, died Wednesday (Nov. 22, 2000) at Mt. Carmel Medical
            Center, Columbus.

            She was the daughter of Edmund and Rosa Stallings.

            Mrs. McDonald was a retired school teacher from South-Western
            City School District. She had taught at Caldwell Elementary prior to
            her teaching at South-Western schools. She was a member of
            Grove City United Methodist Church and was a charter member of
            Gamma Nu, Delta Kappa Gamma.

            She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Kaylor and
            Oneda Starr; and a brother, Ervin Stallings.

            She leaves a sister, Edith Bishop of Caldwell; a sister-in-law, Betty
            Stallings of Summerfield; several nieces and nephews.

            Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home,
            Columbus Street, Grove City, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
            Sunday at Murphy-McCurdy Funeral Home, Caldwell, where
            services will be 11 a.m. Monday, with Minister Jason Ridgeway
            officiating.

            Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

                              GEORGE N. DEVORE

                                    1904-2000

            WOODSFIELD — George N. Devore Sr., 96, of Ashland, formerly
            of Route 3, Woodsfield, died Wednesday (Nov. 22, 2000).

            He was born May 29, 1904, in Monroe County, son of the late Parry
            and Molly (Smith) Devore.

            Mr. Devore was a retired school teacher, having taught in Monroe
            County schools. He was a member of Northend Church of Christ,
            Ashland.

            He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Anderson) Devore; a
            son, George Devore Jr.; three brothers; a grandchild; and a
            great-grandchild.

            He leaves a son, Robert E. Devore of Jacksonville, Fla.; a
            daughter, Ruth E. Mackey; two brothers, Austin Devore and
            Thurman Devore, all of Ashland; seven grandchildren; 12
            great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

            Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Bauer-Turner
            Funeral Home, Woodsfield, with services to follow at 1 p.m.
            Monday, with Minister Travis Irwin officiating.

            Burial will be in Conner Ridge Cemetery, near Graysville.

                             EVA “BETTY” BAKER

                                    1914-2000

            Eva “Betty” (Britton) Baker, 86, of Kimbolton, died Wednesday
            (Nov. 22, 2000) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center,
            Cambridge.

            She was born March 21, 1914, in Cambridge, daughter of the late
            Charles and Lula (Slyter) Britton.

            Mrs. Baker graduated from the former Brown High School and
            attended Life Bible College, Los Angeles. She was a former
            employee of the former Mosaic Tile Co., Zanesville, Kennedy’s
            Bakery, and the former Zake’s Sandwich Shop. She pastored
            Clark’s Chapel, Pleasant City, and Zanesville Pentecostal Church
            of God. She was a member of The Revival Barn, North Salem.

            She was the last surviving child of eight.

            She was preceded in death by a brother; six sisters; and infant son,
            David Leon Baker.

            She leaves her husband, Bernard R. Baker, whom she married Oct.
            25, 1947; two sons, Phillip (Claudia) Baker of Cambridge, Bernard
            R. “Rod” (Merri) Baker Jr. of North Highlands, Calif.; six
            grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three
            great-grandchildren.

            Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Thorn-Black Funeral
            Home, Cambridge, where services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, with
            Pastor Phillip Griffith officiating.

            Burial will be in North Salem Community Cemetery.

            CUMBERLAND — Wanda E. Holdren, died Wednesday (Nov. 22,
            2000) at the Mark Rest Center, McConnelsville.

            Arrangements are pending at Tom & Farus Funeral Home,
            Cumberland.

            NEWCOMERSTOWN — Lorna J. Couts, 69, of Buckhorn Village,
            formerly of East Canal Street, Newcomerstown, died Wednesday
            (Nov. 22, 2000) in the emergency room at Union Hospital, Dover.

            Arrangements are pending at Ourant Funeral Home,
            Newcomerstown.
