Don Adams
CADIZ
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Clark-Kirkland Funeral
Home, Cadiz, for Don E. Adams, 76, of Cadiz, who died Friday
(Nov. 10, 2000) at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz.
The Rev. Charles Mehl will officiate.
Burial will be in Nottingham Cemetery near Cadiz.

He
was born May 2, 1924, in Harrison County, son of the late
Harold C. and Ruth Dunlap Adams.
Mr.
Adams was the retired owner/operator of Don Adams Texaco
and Don Adams Radiator, Cadiz.
He
belonged to Nottingham United Presbyterian Church. He served
three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and made nine
trips to the European War area. He retired from the radiator service
in 1999.
He
was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Jennifer
Adams.
Mr.
Adams leaves his wife of 54 years, Wilma Moore Adams; four
children, Kelly (Janet) Adams of Strasburg, Teresa (Gary) Tarbert
of Piedmont, Gene (Sharry) Adams of Tippecanoe and Dawn (Jim)
Milleson of Gnadenhutten; nine grandchildren, Greg Tarbert, Jolene
(Dennis) Adams Bloomquist, Ryan (Tricia) Tarbert, Angie Tarbert,
Chad Adams, Jon Dean, Andy Dean, Kaila Adams and Mark
Dean; two great-grandchildren, Camden Bloomquist and Averie
Tarbert; a sister, Louise Campbell of Freeport; a brother, Wayne
Adams of Smyrna.
Dorothy Elizabeth Kayser
NEW
CONCORD Dorothy Elizabeth Kayser, 92, formerly of New
Concord, Rix Mills, and Cuyahoga Falls, died Friday (Nov. 10,
2000) at Friendship Village, Columbus.
She
was born July 28, 1908, in Rich Hill Township, Muskingum
County.
Mrs.
Kayser was a graduate of Muskingum College and Ohio
Wesleyan University. She was a retired elementary school teacher
and longtime member of the Central College Presbyterian Church,
Westerville.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Kayser, who
died in 1980.
She
leaves a daughter, Dottie G. Kayser of Hinckley; a son, Dr.
Henry C. Kayser of Richland, Wash.; six grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Services
will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Concord Cemetery with the
Rev. Douglas Blaikie officiating.
Mock-Miller
Funeral Home, New Concord, is entrusted with
arrangements.
Wesley O. Windish
ST.
CARLISLE, Pa. Wesley O. Windish, 64, of Cambridge,
formerly of St. Carlisle, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at
Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
He
was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Carlisle, Pa., son of the late Charles
and Aldene Kessley Windish.
Mr.
Windish was a U.S. Air Force veteran, who served in the
Korean War and was a former president of the Quaker City Bank,
Cambridge. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW,
Eagles and Elks Lodge, all of Cambridge.
He
leaves three daughters, Lorie A. Windish of Hilton Head, S.C.,
and Linda A Winkelman and Bonnie Windish, both of Lancaster;
two brothers, Steve Windish of Logandale, Nev., and Clifford
Windish of Carlisle, Pa.; and a granddaughter.
There
will be no viewing, however, visitation will be from 12:30 to
1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S.
Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013, where services will immediately
follow.
The Rev. Erie J. Shafer will officiate.
Burial
will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens, North
Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Pa.
Memorial

Donald Casteel
NEWCOMERSTOWN
Services for Donald E. Casteel, 72, of
Newcomerstown, formerly of Washington Township, will be 2 p.m.
today at Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.
The Rev. Tom Gruver will officiate.
Calling hours were Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000).
Burial
will follow at Hartwood Cemetery, Washington Township,
where the Newcomerstown veterans organization will conduct
military graveside services.

Mr.
Casteel died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) at Southeastern Ohio
Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
He
was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Newcomerstown, son of the late
Emerson Doc Casteel and Winnie R. (Plants) Casteel.
Mr.
Casteel attended Newcomerstown High School and was a
member of the former Washington Township Grange. He was an
Army veteran of World War II and served with the 58th Signal
Battalion of the occupational forces in Kyoto, Japan, following the
war. He was a life member of the D.A.V. Post 129,
Newcomerstown.
Mr.
Casteel was retired from the former Tuscarawas Poultry
Company, Gnadenhutten, where he worked as a meatcutter and
driver for over 15 years. Prior to that, he was employed with Joes
Meat Market and the former Heller Brothers Tool Company, both of
Newcomerstown. He was the owner and operator of Casteels
Grocery Store, Washington Township, for a few years. He was a
member of Hartwood United Methodist Church and the
Newcomerstown Senior Citizens. He enjoyed reading, square
dancing and hunting.
He
was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Jean Kail Casteel,
whom he married Aug. 15, 1948, and who died Nov. 21, 1995; his
second wife, Frances T. Greathouse Casteel, whom he married
Aug. 17, 1997, and who died earlier this year; a son-in-law, Norman
L. Choate of Cambridge; a step-brother; and a step-grandson.
He
leaves two sons, Donald E. (Judy L.) Casteel Jr. of Pickerington
and John E. (Laura M.) Casteel of Newcomerstown; a daughter,
Karen J. Choate of Cambridge; a step-son, David (Bonnie)
Greathouse of Newcomerstown; a step-daughter, Ellen (Jim)
McDonnell of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Ella Mae (Max) Huffman
of West Lafayette and Edna Morrison of Cambridge; three
grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren,
step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandson.
Doris Green
Doris
Green, 63, resident of the Morning View Care Center, New
Philadelphia, for the last five years, formerly of Cambridge, died
Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) in Union Hospital, Dover.
She
was born April 30, 1937, in Monroe County, daughter of the
late Walter Franklin and Lulu (Wehr) Christman.
Mrs.
Green was a graduate of Cadiz High School. She was retired
from NCR after 25 years of service and was Protestant by faith.
She was a member of the VFW auxiliary, the Eagles and the
Moose Lodge, all of Cambridge.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Edward Bud Green, who died in March of 1996; two
brothers, Clyde Christman and Ralph Christman; and three sisters,
Florence Wells, Janice Powell and Neva Christman.She leaves a
son, Bruce E. Green (Misty Ogle) of Cambridge; a brother, Don
(Katherine) Christman of Summerfield; three sisters, Katherine
Miller of Cuyahoga Falls and Eva Pearl (Melvin) Kennon and Peggy
Jo (Charles) McLaughlin, both of Barnesville; a granddaughter,
Marissa Emerald Green of Cambridge; a step-grandson, Kane
Ogle of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Cathryn P. Miller
Catherine
Patsy Miller died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) at Cambridge
Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cambridge. She was the direct
descendent of Asa and Anna Huston Dickerson, a well-known
pioneering family that settled in the Guernsey County area in the
early part of the 19th century and was instrumental in establishing
the towns of Buffalo and Derwent.
Born
as Catherine Patsy Wycoff, she was the only daughter of
Albert E. Wycoff and Arizona Dickerson Wycoff. Albert owned
stores in Buffalo, Derwent and Walhonding.
Five
of Patsys brothers, Roy, Harrison, Forest, Paul and Carl,
helped run his many businesses. When the coal mines closed, the
sons moved away; all are now deceased.
Patsys
great-grandfather, Asa Dickerson, was the first child to be
born in Jackson Township. Her grandmother, Eliza Voorhies
Dickerson, plotted the village of Derwent in 1898. And a great-uncle
founded Hartford, now called Buffalo. Another uncle was the
co-founder of the Hartford coal mine.
Patsy
Miller made her own history when in 1934, while on a trip to
Indiana, she became seriously ill and underwent major surgery at
Gallipolis. She returned home shortly thereafter in a private plane
which had been stripped and re-outfitted to accommodate the
recuperating patient. The unusual event made the front page of The
Daily Jeffersonian.
As
a young woman, Patsy attended Otterbein College. In 1943, she
married Gorman Dunlap Miller (died Feb. 23, 1968), a lieutenant in
the Army. She attended both Buffalo Methodist Episcopal Church,
and later, Harmony Lutheran Church.
Patsy
was active in the Order of Eastern Star and, while her
husband was living, with various groups of the Ohio State Highway
Patrol.
She
will be missed by several nieces and nephews. Also many
friends in the Buffalo, Pleasant City and Byesville area.
Services
will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13 at Black Family Funeral
Service, Byesville, with calling hours one hour prior. The Rev. Diana
Gugel will officiate.
Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
Donations
may be made in Patsys memory to either Buffalo
Methodist Episcopal Church or Buffalo Harmony Lutheran Church.
Helen Griffiths
MORRISTOWN
Helen Griffiths, 93, of Palmetto, Fla., formerly of
Morristown, died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) at her home.
She
was born Sept. 29, 1907, in Shadyside, daughter of the late
Lewis and Clara Shorts Underwood.
Mrs.
Griffiths was a member of the Morristown Christian Church,
Hazen Chapter Order of Eastern Star and former owner-operator of
the Sunset Motel in Morristown.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Raymond, and a son, Thomas.
She
leaves a daughter-in-law, Donna Griffiths of Palmetto, Fla.; a
granddaughter, Shawna Green of Palmetto, Fla.; two nieces,
Jessie Bright of Windom and Rose Cavanaugh; a great-niece,
Darlene Bertin of Youngstown; and several other nieces and
nephews.

Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Morristown, where services will
be 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Joanne H. Hamilton
CALDWELL
Joanne H. Hamilton, 81, of Little Rock, Ark., died
Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2000) at St. Vincent Infirmary Hospital, Little
Rock, Ark.
She
was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Belle Valley, daughter of the late
John N. and Ethel Drake.
Mrs.
Hamilton was a 1935 graduate of Caldwell High School. She
performed clerical duties and office work for many years and she
also was a homemaker. She formerly attended First Church of
Christ, Caldwell.
In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother,
John W. Hazard, who died in 1992.
She
leaves two daughters, Barbara Dee Hamilton of Phoenix, Ariz.,
and Sheryl (Richard) Ostrowski of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Marilyn
Shreading of Placentia, Calif.; three grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tina Marie (Hardy) Czigans
NEW
CONCORD Tina Marie (Hardy) Czigans, 27, of Nashport,
died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000) at Genesis-Good Samaritan
Hospital, Zanesville, where she had been a patient since an
automobile accident Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000) on Route 146.
She
was born March 29, 1973, in Zanesville, daughter of Samuel L.
and Patricia (Hanes) Hardy, New Concord.
Mrs.
Czigans was a 1991 graduate of John Glenn High School,
New Concord. She was Methodist by faith.
In
addition to her parents, she leaves her husband, Travis W.
Czigans, whom she married April 2, 1994; two daughters, Kaila
Marie Czigans and Brieanna Kay Czigans, both of the home;
father- and mother-in-law, Keith A. and Bonnie Kay Czigans of Lore
City; a brother-in-law, Troy A. Czigans of Westlake; an aunt, Cheri
(Rick) McCartney of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandmothers, Merle Hanes
and Mary Hardy, both of New Concord; a grandfather, Bill Reid of
Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Rusty (Wendy) Hardy of Jacksontown;
two nieces, Bethany and Sidney Hardy, both of Jacksontown; two
nephews, Hayden and Holden Hardy, both of Jacksontown; and
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

James C. Woods
BYESVILLE
James C. Woods, 88, a resident of the Beckett
House, New Concord, formerly of Cambridge, died Friday (Nov. 10,
2000) at the Beckett House, New Concord.
He
was born Dec. 13, 1911, in Brackenridge, Pa., son of the late
Claire and Edna (Wilhelm) Woods.
Mr.
Woods was retired from Tyson Roller Bearings, Canton, where
he worked as a machine operator. He was a World War II Army
veteran and a member of the DAV Chapter 28.
In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Tillie Woods, who died in 1984; three sisters, Blanche, Ellen and
Helen; and two brothers, Jack and Ralph.
He
leaves two brothers, Roy Woods of Louisville, Ky., and Billy
Woods of Erie, Pa.; a sister, Faye Brown of Butler, Pa.; and several
nieces and nephews including Shirley and Dave Dolan, with whom
he made his home.

Martha R. Billick
WHEELING,
W.Va. Martha R. (Coss) Billick, 77, a resident of
the Moundview Nursing Home, and formerly of Garden Park
Apartments and Cherry Street, Wheeling, W.Va., died Friday (Nov.
10, 2000) in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va.
Mrs.
Billick Coss was a former employee of the Wheeling Catholic
Diocese and a member of the St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling,
W.Va.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Billick,
who died in 1963; her parents, Elwood and Emma Laubmeister
Coss; two brothers; and five sisters.
She
leaves a son, Fred (Josey) Billick of Lima; two daughters, Jan
Moughan and Jill Fry, both of Wheeling, W.Va.; two sisters, Mary
Gilchrist of Cleveland and Grace Neidert of Wheeling, W.Va.; six
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
