Michael E. Gress

FT. MYERS, Fla. — Michael E. Gress, 76, of Ft. Myers, formerly of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Monday (May 7, 2001).

He was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Pleasant City.

Mr. Gress had been a Ft. Myers resident since 1988. He was employed by Gress Equipment Co. of Cambridge for 26 years. He was member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Eugene.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Geneva L. “Jennie” Gress of Ft. Myers; two daughters, Mrs. John (Sharon R.) Baker of Ninilchik, Alaska, and Mrs. Scott (Teresa M.) Hannahs of Palm Bay; a son, Michael J. (Debbie) Gress of Brunswick, Ga.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with the Rev. Father Thomas Palko officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mary G. Myer

ZANESVILLE — Mary G. Myer, 79, of Zanesville, died Tuesday (May 8, 2001) at Hospice of Genesis, Zanesville.

She was born April 11, 1922, in Cambridge, daughter of the late John and Mary (Bercheny) Divinsky.

Mrs. Myer was member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Myer; and a brother, John E. Divinsky.

She leaves a daughter, Mary K. Myer, of the home; two sons, Richard H. Myer and William Hansen; two grandsons, Anthony and Wayne Hansen; a sister, Mrs. Melvin N. (Julianna) Doane of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Hillis Funeral Home, Zanesville.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with the Rev. Father James C. Csaszar officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.

Ruby J. Weekley

ALMA, W.Va. — Ruby J. Weekley, 85, of Middlebourne, W.Va., died Monday (May 7, 2001) at Wetzel County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 28, 1915, daughter of the late Otta and Melissa (Jones) Stoneking.

Mrs. Weekley was a homemaker and a member of Middlebourne Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Ellsworth Whaley and Cleve Weekley; a brother, Winfred Stone King; and a grandson.

She leaves three sons, Robert J. Whaley of Carrolton, Ohio, Roy Donald Whaley of Baltimore, Md., and Roger L. Whaley of Cambridge, Ohio; three daughters, Joan Lamp of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Jeanette Nelson of Alma, and Cheryl Barrick of Middlebourne; a brother, Kenneth Stoneking of Middlebourne; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Furbee Funeral Home, Alma, where services will be 1 p.m. Thursday with Evangelist Clarence Rice officiating.

Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Alma.

Roger F. Leasure services

WOODSFIELD — Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, for Roger F. Leasure, 66, of Lewisville, who died Monday (May 7, 2001) at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta.

Pastor Travis Smalley will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, near Summerfield.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born May 15, 1934, in Stafford, son of the late Bert and Blanche (Brown) Leasure.

Mr. Leasure was a retired construction laborer and a former executive board member for Labors Local 639, Marietta, where he served for 43 years.

He was a member of the former Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, near Summerfield.

He was a former president and trustee of Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Leasure; two brothers, Harold “Pete” Leasure and Jim Leasure.

He leaves his wife, Hazel (Williams) Leasure, whom he married July 16, 1954; three daughters, Mrs. Dean (Yvonne) Peacock of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Brian (Vickie) Wells of Malaga, and Mrs. Dave (Linda) Frye of Van Alstyne, Texas; two sons, Roger L. (Linda) Leasure Jr. of Newport, and David L. (Amy) Leasure of Allen, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Matt (Margaret) Dillon of Mt. Gilead; three brothers, Junior Leasure and Lloyd (Shirley) Leasure, all of Caldwell, and Ed (Patty) Leasure of Byesville; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Herbert H. Buchanan

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Herbert H. Buchanan, 71, of Kimbolton, died Tuesday (May, 8, 2001) at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.
