Georgia Brister

WARREN — Georgia B. Brister, 75, of Warren, formerly of Cambridge, died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.

She was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Lancaster, daughter of the late George and Viola (Miller) Hamilton.

Mrs. Brister was a homemaker and enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments.

She had resided in Warren since 1960.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Brister Sr., in 1989. They were married Oct. 18, 1947. Also deceased are a son, Edward Brister, and a brother, Ray Hamilton.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Judy Wheeler of Cambridge, and Mrs. Patricia Stienstra and Karen Brister, both of Warren; two sons, Thomas Brister and George Brister Jr., both of Warren; a sister, Elsie Hamilton of Cambridge; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, Warren, and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services,1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial will be in Meadow Brook Memorial Park, Warren.

Donald Goodhart

QUAKER CITY — Donald “Boob” Goodhart, 73, of Batesville, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at his home.

He was born July 25, 1927, in Batesville, son of the late Briscoe and Florence (Hyett) Goodhart.

Mr. Goodhart retired from North American Coal Mine No. 1, after 37 years of service. He was owner/operator of a portable sawmill for several years.

He was a member of Batesville United Methodist Church, Quaker City VFW Post 5169, Batesville Sportsman Club and the NRA.

He was a 1945 graduate of Batesville High School.

He enjoyed deer hunting and going to Wheeling Downs.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Morgan.

He leaves his wife, Jennie (Gray) Goodhart of the home, whom he married Feb. 19, 1949; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Linda) Pearson of Batesville; two sons, John (Debbie) Goodhart of Seneca Lake, and Mark (Lisa) Goodhart of Batesville; three grandchildren, Eric Pearson of Sandusky, Ashley Goodhart of Seneca Lake and Samantha Goodhart of Batesville; a sister, Eileen Riley of Batesville; a brother, James (Dixie) Goodhart of Batesville; several close nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where services will be 11 a.m. Thursday with the Revs. Raymond Ake and Bill Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Batesville Cemetery.

Marie Landefeld

BARNESVILLE — Marie S. Landefeld, 106, of Barnesville, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at the home of her grandson.

She was born Feb. 3, 1895, in Monroe County, daughter of the late Isadore and Emma (Curry) Shuman.

Mrs. Landefeld was one of the founders of the Barnesville Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose and Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Landefeld; a brother, Roy Shuman; three sisters, Delta Shuman, Hilda Enoc and Dorothy Long; a granddaughter, Shelva Gibbons; a great-grandson, Todd Wehr.

She leaves a daughter, Eleanor L. Hughes of Quaker City; four grandchildren, Joe Hughes of Barnesville, Sandra Learner of Columbus, and Arlene Wehr and Rick Allen Hughes, both of Quaker City; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Norman Grimes officiating.

Burial will be in Miltonsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Barnesville Senior Citizens Center Building Fund.

Donald Miller

Word has been received of the death of Donald L. Miller, 56, of Chamblee, Ga., who died suddenly at his home on Sunday (April 22, 2001).

He was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Cambridge, son of the late Cecil and Beulah Miller.

Mr. Miller was a 1962 graduate of Cambridge High School and a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was employed as an engineer with the City of Atlanta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Miller Jr. and Donice Miller; and a sister, Mary E. (Betty) Fahner.

He leaves his wife, Liliana D. Miller of Chamblee; three daughters, Cassandra Newbold of Norcross, Ga., Alizon Isaac of Cumming, Ga., and Mary McKissick of Alpharetta, Ga.; three brothers, Richard Miller of Livonia, Mich., Roderic Miller of Folkston, Ga., and Robert Miller of Cambridge; a sister, Patricia Lanning of Cambridge; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Military services were Friday, April 27 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, Ga.

Velma Porter

FREEPORT — Velma Marie Porter, 77, of West Chester, went to be with the Lord Monday (April 30, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, following a stroke on April 23.

She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Bellaire, daughter of the late David M. and Mae (Dixon) Meek.

Mrs. Porter was a member of West Chester United Methodist Church, where she continued to share her love for Jesus. She served at her late husband’s side in the East Ohio Conference of Methodist Ministry before retiring to West Chester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James E. Porter, on May 1, 1993. They were married April 12, 1941. Also deceased are a brother, Leonard Meek, and a grandson, Wesley Porter.

She leaves seven children, Mrs. Richard (Karen S.) Suter of St. Clairsville, Gary L. (Delores) Porter of Kent, Brenda K. Russell and Mrs. Rick (Rebecca M.) Storck, both of Newcomerstown, Thomas A. Porter of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Joseph (Sarah Lynn) McCutcheon of Bellaire,
