William W. Mitchell Sr.

William W. Mitchell Sr., 86, of Cambridge, died Sunday (March 18, 2001) at the home of his son, Larry Mitchell.

He was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Cambridge, son of the late John and Ruth (Fulton) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a WPA worker, having assisted in building roads through Tunnel Hill. He was a self-employed logger and scrap iron worker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Mitchell; a son, Tommy Mitchell; and a sister, Mildred Lehew.

He leaves eight daughters, Mrs. John (Betty) Stewart of Flushing, Mrs. Gene (Phyllis) Blenininger of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Bud (Mary) Baker and Mrs. Mickey (Carol) Winland, both of Cambridge, Mrs. Okey (Sylvia) Donelson of Kent, Mrs. Bob (Linda) Baker and Mrs. Larry (Nancy) Evans, both of Byesville, and Peggy Callihan of New Concord; three sons, William (Carolyn) Mitchell Jr., Larry (Brenda) Mitchell and David (Nancy) Mitchell, all of Cambridge; a sister, Leona Journey of Cambridge; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Shirley Vance officiating.

Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.

Edna M. Wiley services

CALDWELL — Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, for Edna M. Wiley, 95, formerly of Main Street, Caldwell, who died died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, where she had been a patient for the past nine years.

The Rev. Ken Hyland will officiate. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born Sept. 11, 1905, in Monroe County, daughter of the late James and Anna (Parks) Wheeler.

Mrs. Wiley had worked in housekeeping and restaurant work for many years. She retired from GTE in Caldwell, where she served as a custodian.

She was a member of Caldwell Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Wiley, in 1972; and two brothers, Harley and Forest Wheeler.

She leaves three daughters, Marie Pangle and Mrs. Howard (Doris) Cunningham, all of Caldwell, and Geneva Boyle of Roscommon, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Louelle Wiley of Caldwell and Anna Wheeler of Columbus; a niece, Donna Mae Stack of Newark.
