CATHERINE ‘KAY’ FARABAUGH
1918-2001

CLEVELAND — Catherine “Kay” (Warchola) Farabaugh, 83, a resident of The Beckett House, New Concord, died Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001).

She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Nanty Glo, Pa., daughter of the late Michael Warchola and Anna Chola.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbra Evans, and a sister, Jean Hall.

She leaves her husband, Leo R.; a son, William A. Butkosky, and a daughter, Joan A. Albaugh of Cambridge; three brothers, Steve Warchola, Peter Warchola and Michael Warchola; three sisters, Mary Boverly, Julia Kotowski and Rose Klamm; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Donald Martens and Sons Funeral Home, Cleveland, where services will be 9 p.m.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Nanty Glo, Pa.

EDWIN L. SPENCER

1925-2001

.NEWCOMERSTOWN — Edwin L. Spencer, 75, of Port Washington, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at Twin City Hospital, Dennison.

He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Gnadenhutten, son of the late Roe and Bessie (Jones) Spencer.

Mr. Spencer was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

He retired from Larson Clay Pipe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice C. (Shryock) Spencer, on Sept. 11, 1999. They were married Dec. 21, 1961.

He leaves a son, Edwin L. Spencer Jr. of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Geneva Gray of Uhrichsville; seven step-daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Carolyn) York of Port Washington, Mrs. Calvin (Kathleen) Lafferty of Kimbolton, Mrs. Mark (Frances) Montgomery of Malta, Mrs. Arnold (Janie) Starcher of Guernsey, Mrs. Grafton (Joanne) Williams of Port Washington, Patricia Shalosky of Kimbolton and Julie Henry of Kimbolton; two step-sons, Anthony (Kim) Shalosky of Port Washington and John (Evelyn) Shalosky of West Lafayette; two brothers, Herb (Eileen) Spencer of New Philadelphia and Calvin Spencer of Hawaii; and a sister, Nina Ronald of New Philadelphia.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Addy Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, where services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Kimbolton Cemetery, Kimbolton.

DONALD W. JONES

1912-2001

ZANESVILLE — Donald W. Jones, 88, of Zanesville, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at O.D.C. Nursing Home, Zanesville.

He was born March 23, 1912, in Muskingum Township, son of the late Everett W. and Daisy (Winter) Jones.

Mr. Jones retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served as a clerk. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, and a 50-year member of Lafayette Lodge 79 F&AM.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda M. (Hughes) Jones; a daughter, Marilyn K. Jones; two brothers, Dwight Paul and Earl W. Jones; and a sister, Gladys Jones.

He leaves a son, Bernard A. (Susan) Jones of Cambridge; a brother, Alva E. Jones of Indian Head, Md.; a sister, Alice Hein of Tallahassee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Clinton and Sara Jones, both of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bolin Funeral Home, Zanesville, where services will be 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. John Earhart officiating.

Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park.

Lafayette Lodge 79 will have Masonic services 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

HILDA M. BURKHART

WOODSFIELD — Hilda M. Burkhart, 74, of Woodsfield, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, W.Va.

Arrangements are pending at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield.

MAMIE E. REED

1912-2001

CALDWELL — Mamie E. Reed, 88, of Caldwell, died Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.

She was born May 2, 1912, in New Marshfield, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Efau.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and a member of Bells United Methodist Church and also Noble County Camp Gideons Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Reed, on Jan. 8, 1991; a son, Wilbur Reed; and several brothers.

She leaves two grandsons, Tom and Michael Reed, both of Columbus; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Reed of Columbus; a sister, Virginia Young of New Marshfield; a sister-in-law, Martha Reed of Caldwell; several nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed.

Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bells Church Cemetery, Caldwell, with the Rev. Helen Lewis officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bells United Methodist Church.

McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, is handling the arrangements.

BLANCHE CHRISTINE HALEY

1901-2001

WOODSFIELD — Blanche Christine Haley, 99, of Woodsfield, formerly of New Lexington, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield.

She was born Sept. 20, 1901, in Chagrin Falls, daughter of the late Ernest William and Ethel Mae (Smith) Haley.

Miss Haley was a retired music teacher, having taught for 47 years in Perry, Muskingum, Pickaway and Madison counties. She was a graduate of Dana Conservatory of Music. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of New Lexington, where she was a member of the church choir.

She was a member of The Music Club in New Lexington, Ohio Music Educators Association and the National Music Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold P. Haley.

She leaves a sister-in-law, Carolyn E. Haley of Beallsville; a niece, Mrs. Carl (Lynn) Rousenberg of Jerusalem; a nephew, Jan (Kay) Haley of Woodsfield; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; five great-great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.

No calling hours will be observed.

Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, with the Rev. Joel Harbarger officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 126 S. High St., New Lexington, OH 43764.
