Betty Pryor

BARNESVILLE — Betty Jane Pryor, 64, of Barnesville, died Friday (Feb. 2, 2001) at her home.

She was born July 7, 1936, in Barnesville, daughter of Gladys (Jefferis) Bean of Dania Beach, Fla., and the late Albert Bean.

Mrs. Pryor was a homemaker and owner/operator of Custom Designs Crafts of Barnesville. She was a former member of Quarter Horse Association, Rolling Hills Horse Association and the Barnesville Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Pryor.

She leaves two sons, Donald (Debbie) Jeffrey of Stockport and Jerry Pryor of Belmont; two daughters, Mrs. Monte (Mary Lou) Carpenter of Quaker City and Mrs. Bobby (Jane) Kirk of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren, Angie, Kerri and Jenna Pryor, Kayla and Kyle Carpenter and Nicole Pryor; two sisters, Linda Andrews of Barnesville and Marsha Bean of Dania Beach, Fla.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hatfield officiating.

Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or the Barnesville Schools.

William Claude Vermillion

HUDSON, Fla. — William Claude Vermillion, 84, formerly of Cambridge, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2001) in Bayonet Point Health and Rehabilitation Center, Hudson, Fla.

He was born in Wheeling, W. Va., and moved to Port Richey, Fla., from Cambridge in 1994.

He was employed as a chief operator for the Tennessee Gas Transmission Company, Claysville, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a Marine veteran, serving during World War II, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He leaves his wife Betty (Phyllis) Vermillion of Port Richey, Fla.; a daughter, Sharon J. Crawford of Westlake; and two grandchildren, Darin William Crawford of Columbus and Shari Lee Crawford of Lighthouse Point, Fla.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at North Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 4244 Madison St., Newport Richey, Fla., with Dr. Guy S. Sanders III officiating.

Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

Nina Mae Greer

CADIZ — Nina Mae Greer, 81, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Cadiz, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) in Bradenton, Fla.

She was born May 15, 1919 in Cinco, W.Va., daughter of Herbert and Mary Louise (Steele Stover) Hergner, when as a child she moved to Harrison County.

Mrs. Greer moved to Florida in 1955 where, besides being a mother, she was active in ham radio operations, oil painting and traveling.

She was a member of Palmetto Assembly of God, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Frank Hergner; her husband, William R. (Pete) Greer; two brothers, Rymer and Everett Stover, and a grandson, Lee William Pridgen.

Mrs. Greer leaves two daughters, Connie (Kirby) Stewart of Gainesville, Fla., and Joyce (Ernest) Abney, Winter Park, Fla.; a sister, Ann Nelson (Jack) Hilbert of Scio; a brother, Harold Ray (Alda) Stover of Monroe, N. C.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz ,where services will be 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Greg Emerick officiating. Burial will be at Cadiz Union Cemetery, Cadiz.

The family has requested a contribution to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 125 E. 2nd St., Dover, OH 44622.

Wilbur E. 'Buck' Jackson

MARIETTA — Wilbur E. ‘Buck’ Jackson, 73, of Marietta, died Monday (Jan. 22,2001) in Selby General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Woodsfield but made his home in Stafford for most of his life. He was a graduate of Elk Local High School and serviced in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was later employed as a superintendent by Columbia Gas Co., for 35 years until his retirement. He also owned and operated the Stafford General Store.

Mr. Jackson found a great deal of pleasure working on his oil leases and enjoyed making handcrafted items from various metals. He was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church, Stafford Masonic Lodge 300 F. and A. M., and Masterton Lodge, Order of Eastern Star. His home was in Marietta the past 8 and one-half years.

He was preeded in death by his stepfather and mother, Landseer and Margaret Daniels, and a step-sister, Wanda Barclay.

He leaves his wife, Ruth (Stephen Mallett) Jackson, whom he married Aug. 15, 1992; two sons by a previous marriage, Donald (Dianne) Jackson of Papillon, Neb.; Jerry (Ressa) Jackson of Woodsfield; three step-daughters, Cynthia (Douglas) Wittekind of Newport News, Va.; Beverly (John) Huffman, and Nancy (Allen) Tubaugh all of Marietta; a step-brother Mark (Mary) Daniels of Lower Salem; two step-sisters, Laura (Bill) Hoffheins of Southgate, Mich.; Myrle Lankford of Marietta; four grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Services were held at Gilman United Methodist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Marietta. Memorial services were conducted at McClure-Schafer Funeral Home by the Lebanon Order of Eastern Star and Stafford Lodge 300, F. and A. M.

Ronald E. Feldner

Ronald E. Feldner, 78, of Caldwell, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.

He was born Feb. 21,1922, in Noble County, son of the late Leslie and Myrle (Mallett) Feldner.

Mr. Feldner was a retired employee of B & N Coal Company, Dexter City and a World War II Army veteran, having served in the South Pacific. He was a member of VFW Post 2901 in Cambridge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian E. (Bates) Feldner, who dies Aug. 20, 1974, and a son, Larry Feldner.

He leaves a son, Steve (Peggy) Feldner of Arnoldsville, Ga.; two daughters, Judy (Dave) Milligan of Caldwell and Nancy (Doug) Lair of Athens, Ga.; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home. The Rev. William Pickenpaugh will officiate..

Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell.

Martha L. Cline

LEWISVILLE — Martha L. Cline, 68, of Lewisville, died Friday (Feb. 2, 2001).

She was born in Monroe County near Beallsville, on Feb. 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Hobart and Florence (Stephens) Farnesworth.

Mrs. Cline was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cline, on Oct. 21, 1971.

She leaves a son, Joseph Sidney Cline of Alliance, a daughter Alice Cline of Cambridge; four sisters, Vara Curluter and Mary Nalley, both of Summerfield, Elisabeth Pittman of Malaga, Evelyn Stimpert of Jerusalem; five brothers, Dempsey Farnesworth and Larry Farnesworth, both of Summerfield, Robert Farnesworth of Coshocton, Hubert Farnesworth and Virgil Farnesworth, both of Lewisville; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, Summerfield, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Don Arbuckle officiating.

Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery, Calais.

Edward A. 'Ed' Highben

PORT WASHINGTON — Edward A. “Ed” Highben, 75, of Port Washington, formerly of Massillon, died Saturday (Feb. 3, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

He was born in Massillon on May 27, 1925, son of the late Andrew and Susan (Pushon) Highben.

Mr. Highben was a member of the Fry’s Valley Moravian Church and the Massillon Eagles Lodge 190. He was a graduate of Massillon Washington High, class of 1943. He was a retired crane operator with the Union Drawn division of Republic Steel where he was employed for 42 years.

He was an avid bowler and softball player and participated in several leagues in Massillon for many years. He also enjoyed playing Scrabble, horseshoe pitching and gardening, where he raised many differnt varieties of peppers. Mr. Highben also enjoyed collecting Cleveland Indians memorabilia and coins.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Highben was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Duffy.

He leaves his wife , Lelah (Thornton McMahon) Highben of Port Washington, whom he married Oct. 29, 1983. He also leaves two sons, Dennis J. (Sherilyn) Highben of Navarre and Edward A. Highben Jr. of Massillon; two daughters, Beverly S. Lover of Naples, Fla., and Rebecca A. (Larry) Hardcastle of Lake Placid, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Sherilyn S. (Dennis J.) Highben of Navarre, Faye I. (Richard) McKee of Fresno and Tammy J. (Kenny) Lewis of Port Washington; two stepsons, Ralph (Pam) McMahon of Port Washington and Everett W. (Zeke) (Lori) McMahon, Gnadenhutten; two brothers, Ernest (Mercedes) Highben and Alan (Beulah) Highben, both of Massillon; a sister, Norma Duffy of Canton; 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown, and on Wednesday morning at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Services will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Fry’s Valley Moravian Church, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Marie K. Couts officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Highben’s name to the Fry’s Valley Moravian Church, 594 Fry’s Valley Road, New Philadelphia 44663.
