HELEN M. COURY

Helen M. Coury, 76, of Cambridge, died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

Arrangements are pending at Scott Funeral Home, Cambridge.

GEORGE GARDNER

1912-2001

BARNESVILLE — George Gardner, 88, of Barnesville, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) at Camden Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born July 15, 1912, in Ansburry, Pa., son of the late James and Eva (Butterbaugh) Gardner.

Mr. Gardner retired from Consolidated Coal Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.

He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1473; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 626, Bellaire; American Legion Post 77, Neffs; the Rod and Gun Club, Neffs, and a life member of DAV.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Airetta J. (Carpenter) Gardner; and three sisters, Minnie Zeman, Dorothy Kleg and Elizabeth Slacker.

He leaves a son, James R. (Jo Ellen) of Belpre; and two granddaughters, Lauren Ellen and Amber Kristen Gardner.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be 11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville. Military graveside services will be conducted by Belmont County Veterans Council.

WILMA IRENE CALLIHAN

1926-2001

BYESVILLE — Wilma Irene Callihan, 74, of Farmington Hills, Mich., died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) in Michigan.

She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Byesville, daughter of the late George and Mary (Miller) Todd.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth B. Callihan; and a granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Voorhies.

She leaves two sons, Terry Callihan of Cambridge, and Randy Callihan of Caldwell; a daughter, Nancy Bash of Detroit, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville, with services to follow at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.

BETTY JEAN RAMAGE

1930-2001

CALDWELL — Betty Jean Ramage, 71, of East Union, died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) at her home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Noble County, daughter of the late James and Bertha (Connell) Dovenbarger.

Mrs. Ramage was a homemaker and a member of Dexter City United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Ramage, on Feb. 10, 1999; a son, Gregory A. Ramage; her step-mother, Dora Dovenbarger; and four brothers, Harold, James, Edwin and Carl Dovenbarger.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Ellen “Sis”) Triplett of Caldwell, Mrs. Greg (Marlene) Emerick of Scio, and Mrs. Kenneth (Lisa) Lee of East Union; a son, Ronald (Deanna) Ramage of Caldwell; a daughter-in-law, Betty Ramage of Caldwell; a brother, Richard (Regina) Dovenbarger of Coshocton; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Greg Emerick officiating.

Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.

LESTER FRANCIS KENNEY

1925-2001

WOODSFIELD — Lester Francis Kenney, 75, of Economy Borough, Pa., formerly of Graysville, died Saturday (Feb. 24, 2001) at Heritage Valley Health System, Sewickley Valley Hospital.

He was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Graysville, son of the late Francis Marion and Coral (Gill) Kenney.

Mr. Kenney retired from American Bridge Co., where he served as a crane operator. He was a member of Hopewell Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Hopewell Township.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II, and was a member of Local 1270 United Steelworkers of America.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Waura, Augusta Smoot and Hilda Coplan.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Jane (Weddle) Kenney of Economy Borough; a son, Paul (Helen) Kenney of Athens; four daughters, Jean Nelson of Monaca, Pa., Mrs. Robert (Diane) Bennett of Harlingen, Texas, Mrs. Wayne (Debbi) Albright of Hopewell Township, Pa., and Mrs. Ron (Cindi) Janicki of Economy Borough; three sisters, Pearl Bliske of North Carolina, Lucille Reinbeau of East Rochester, Pa., and Helen Kramer of Wheeling, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday with Minister Harold B. Kinney officiating.

Burial will be in Graysville Church of Christ Cemetery, Graysville.

VIRGINIA C. JACKSON

Virginia C. Jackson, 89, of Byesville, died Monday (Feb. 26, 2001) at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cambridge.

Arrangements are pending at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge.
