BYESVILLE — Alberta Wiletta (Johnson) Harper,
79, of Byesville, died Thursday (Feb. 22, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional
Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Pleasant City, daughter
of the late Armstrong and Armintha Johnson. Mrs. Harper was a former manager of Byesville Variety
Store. She also worked at Brothers 5&10 and Tom’s Pharmacy, Byesville. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene,
Cambridge, where she had served as Sunday school teacher and missionary board
president. She attended Guernsey County Cancer Society meetings. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Mary Secrest,
who had raised her; an infant son, Jimmy; four brothers, Frank, William, Bernard
and Fremont; a granddaughter, Debra; and two sisters, Clara Weaver and Angie
Weaver. She leaves her husband of 62 years, Jesse “Donald”
Harper of Byesville, whom she married April 30, 1938; two sons, Curtis (Phyllis)
Harper of Byesville and Ken (Denise) Harper of Cambridge; five daughters,
Mrs. Johnny (Bobbie) Johnson and Mrs. Don (Beverly) Smith, both of Cambridge,
Mrs. Stanley (Betty) Wells of Pleasant City, Mrs. Danny (Marilyn) Gordon of
Newark and Mrs. Dale (Wilma) Wheeler of Columbia Station; a brother, Paul
Johnson of Pleasant City; 42 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday
at Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday
at First Church of the Nazarene in Cambridge, where services will follow at
11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Q. Pearce and the Rev. William Graham of Woodsfield
officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery. Bernice E. Morgan Bernice E. Morgan, 96, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001)
at The Village of Westerville. She was an elementary school teacher from 1925-26
in Lore City and from 1927-57 in Cambridge. In 1958 she moved to Westerville,
where she served as curriculum coordinator for Westerville City Schools until
her retirement in 1972. She was a member of Mizpah Chapter No. 38 O.E.S.
and Church of the Messiah United Methodist. She was preceded in death by her parents, William
and Ethel Morgan; and a brother, Glenn Dugan. She leaves cousins, Myrle Dinges, Loren Dugan and
Leila Rutledge; and many other great-cousins. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Friday at Bundy-Law
Funeral Home, Cambridge, with services to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
Beth Stillwagon officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery. Leonard Joseph Hoebeke 1925-2001 ALLIANCE — Leonard Joseph Hoebeke, 75, of
Johnston, R.I., formerly of Alliance, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) at Cherry
Hill Manor, Johnston, R.I. He was born March 28, 1925, in Kings Mine, son of
the late George M. and Amelia A. (Krall) Hoebeke. Mr. Hoebeke was a graduate of Alliance High School.
He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years and was a
shipping clerk at Alliance Manufacturing Co. for 25 years. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Alliance,
for more than 50 years and served as a vestryman for many years at the church. He was a member of the National Association of Letter
Carriers. He was a petty officer in the U.S. Navy, having
served in World War II aboard the USS Comfort. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae
(Seevers) Hoebeke, who died in 1988. They were married July 24, 1946. Also
deceased is a brother, Kenneth Hoebeke. He leaves two sons, Steven Marshall Hoebeke of Albany,
Ga., and Mark Jeffrey Hoebeke of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Melody Susanne
Ennis of Cranston, R.I.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
a brother, Raymond Hoebeke; and a sister, Eileen Shuster, both of Alliance. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cassady-Turkle-Christian
Funeral Home, Alliance. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal

www.ctcfuneral.com. Wayne Carl Streacker 1929-2001 NEWARK — Wayne Carl Streacker, 71, of Heath,
died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Dayton, son of the
late John B. and Agnes (McDaniel) Streacker. Mr. Streacker was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy L. Streacker;
and a sister, Helen Wright. He leaves a son, Mark W. Streacker of Columbus;
two daughters, Nancy Boyer of California and Teresa Ann Waytt of Cambridge;
eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. No calling hours or services will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of
Central Ohio, 1435 B. West Main St., Newark, OH 43055. Dawerance H. Skatzes 1914-2001 Dawerance H. Skatzes, 86, of Old Washington, died
Wednesday (Feb. 21, 2001) at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, where he had
been a resident for two years. He was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Delaware, son of the
late Carl A. and Eulaha Clara (Stricklen) Skatzes. Mr. Skatzes was retired school teacher and superintendent
for the former Old Washington School District. He was Protestant by faith.
He was a member of Cambridge Lodge 66 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge,
VFW in Kipling, Ohio Army National Guard and life member of Eagles and Moose. He joined the Ohio National Guard for the second
time at the age of 18 and was called into service (domestic) during World
War II and continued his Guard service until his retirement. He was a teacher and administrator in Zanesville
and Columbus and served as principal in Old Washington Schools. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur,
Norman and Richard Skatzes. He leaves his wife, Mildred (Stillion) Skatzes,
whom he married Feb. 18, 1975; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) Moore
of Delaware, Mrs. Robert (Elta Ann) Williamson of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs.
Neil (Neatha) Snyder of Avon Park, Fla.; two sons, Carl A. (Monique) Skatzes
of Tomball, Texas, and Brent A. (Sheila) Skatzes of Sunbury; three sisters,
Mrs. Jane Boster, Mrs. Virginia Skatzes and Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Wilson, all
of Delaware; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday
at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1 p.m. Monday
with the Rev. Andrew Woods officiating. Cambridge Lodge 66 F&AM will have
services 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Washington Cemetery. Military
graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Raymond S. Benson BARNESVILLE — Raymond S. Benson, 85, of Akron,
formerly of Barnesville, died Monday (Feb. 19, 2001) at Hospice Care Center,
Akron. He was born April 3, 1915, in Belmont County, son
of the late William Caldwell and Sarah Imelda (Wilcox) Benson. Mr. Benson was a member of Barnesville Main Street
United Methodist Church and the United Steel Workers of America. He retired from General Metals Powder Co. and was
a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Benson;
four sisters, Clara Truex, Edna Gatten, Mary Greg and Laura Kemp; five infant
brothers and sisters. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Lenora (Logan) Benson;
two sons, William (Darya) of Akron and Robert (Lillian) of Marietta, Ga.;
two daughters, Mrs. Jonathan (Martha) Hymes of Tallmadge and Linda DePrato
of Akron; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at
Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, with services to follow
at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Ledvinka officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care

Hall 1917-2001 BARNESVILLE — Helen Mary (Eddy) Hall, 83,
of Barnesville, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) at her home. She was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Barnesville, daughter
of the late Francis “Frank” and Maude (Hackett) Eddy. Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and former co-owner and
operator of the Leatherwood Drive-In of Barnesville. She was a member of
Assumption Catholic Church, Barnesville. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dusty Lee
Carpenter. She leaves her husband, Rolland Hall; four daughters,
Mrs. John (Judy) Hutchison of Spring Hill, Fla., Mrs. Jim (Sue) Carpenter,
Mrs. Richard (Pat) Wilcox and Mary Hall, all of Barnesville; a brother, Leo
Eddy of Barnesville; grandchildren, Mark and Dave Carpenter, Fran and Jae
Hutchison, Sarah and Rachal Wilcox; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Jacob
Carpenter, Brad, Eric and Cody Carpenter and Miranda Hutchison. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday
at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Barnesville, with a vigil service at 7
p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday
