Joseph F. Ickes

CALDWELL — Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, for Joseph F. Ickes, 85, of Pleasant City, who died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

Pastors Dan Hinkle and Jim Blanton will officiate. Burial will be in Halley’s Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born April 2, 1915, in Mineral City, son of the late Edward and Margaret (Daniels) Ickes.
Mr. Ickes was a member of Local Union 95 Plumbers and Pipefitters in Cambridge. He was a U.S. Navy Sea Bee veteran and a member of Derwent Church of Christ in Christian Union in Derwent.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathlyn F. Ickes, who died April 5, 1988; a daughter, Connie Hill; and three brothers, Max, Jim and Mervin Ickes.

He leaves a son, Ted Ickes of Kimbolton; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Rose Marie) Fish and Mrs. Garland (Kathy) Harper, both of Pleasant City, and Mrs. Bernard (Juanita Faye) Hill of Canton; a son-in-law, Willard Hill of Canton; two sisters, Sarah Bruce of Canton and Margie Morgareidge of Caldwell; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends.

Dolores June Baker

MARIETTA — Dolores June Baker, 73, of Vincent, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2001) at Marietta Center.

She was born May 11, 1927, in Whipple, daughter of the late Clifford C. and Beulah Margaret (Smith) Goodwill.

Mrs. Baker was a 1944 graduate of Salem Liberty High School. After graduation she moved to Dayton, where she worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

She was postmaster at Elba for several years. She and her husband made their living playing music for square dances and weddings. They were known as The Mid-Nite Ramblers.

They had moved to Florida, where she worked in the Palm Beach post office and later moved back to Washington County, where she worked at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, then at Herbal Alternatives until the time of her illness.

She enjoyed quilting, genealogy and was an avid reader. She was a supporter of Waterford High School. She was active in the Washington County Republican Women’s Club and Stepping Stones of Ohio Valley College.

She was preceded in death by a son, Sean Anthony Baker, and his two children, Tabatha and Travis, who were killed in an automobile accident in 1982. Also deceased is a sister, Sharon Lea Goodwill Lewis.

She leaves her husband, Walter Amos Baker, whom she married Feb. 16, 1946; a son, Dr. David Walter (Peggy) Baker of Dothan, Ala.; three daughters, Mrs. Kevin (Linda Fivecoait) King of Lower Salem, Mrs. Bert (Ellen) Dix of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Tony (Sharon Anne) Baumgard of Vincent; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Ramona Goodwill) Schofield of Whipple; two brothers, Charles Cary (Mary) Goodwill of Las Vegas, Nev., and Vaughn Edward (Sharon) Goodwill of Portland, Ore.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley and Peoples Funeral Home, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lower Paw Paw Church of Christ, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday with her son, Pastor David Baker, and Minister Steve Fuchs officiating. Calling hours will also be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, prior to services.

Burial will be in Salem Township Cemetery.

Ella Mae Flood

SUMMERFIELD — Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, Summerfield, for Ella Mae Flood, 76, of Summerfield, who died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.

Frank Love will officiate. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery, Summerfield.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Calais, daughter of the late Charles T. and Civilla (Stephen) Starr.

Mrs. Flood was a homemaker and a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Caldwell VFW Post 4721. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans in Cambridge.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Forest K. Leach, who died Sept. 11, 1971; her second husband, Mansel Edward Flood, who died Oct. 19, 1997; two brothers, Ervin Starr and Everett Starr; three half brothers, Henry Starr, Sylvester Starr and Wellington Starr.

She leaves two daughters, Barbara Buchtel of Cambridge and Bette Hoffert of Summerfield; two sons, David (Sue) Leach of Belle Valley and Tom (Robin) Leach of Summerfield; a step-son, Donald E. (Caroline) Flood of Zanesville; five grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Herbert Warehime

BYESVILLE — Herbert Warehime, 67, of Byesville, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
Arrangements are pending at Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville.
