JANICE V. BAILEY SERVICES

1928-2001

BYESVILLE — Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Black Family Funeral Home for Janice Valerie Bailey, 62, of Byesville, who died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at her home.

The Rev. Tom Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 13, 1938, in Lothair, Ky., daughter of the late Geter Pinson and Cora (Garrison) Pinson of Byesville. She married Raymond Bailey in December 1959.

She was a state day care provider for eight years; former employee of the former Cambridge State Hospital and Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center; and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 2901, Cambridge.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Pinson; and a brother, Lynn Pinson.

She leaves her mother and husband; two sons, Jeff Bailey of Byesville and Greg (Robin) Bailey of Sissonville, W.Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Kim) Ingram and Mrs. Scott (Linda) Ingram, both of Byesville; a brother, Phillip G. Pinson of Elizabethtown, Ky; and nine grandchildren.

FLOYD CLARK MORRIS

1911-2001

CALDWELL — Floyd Clark Morris, 89, of Caldwell, died Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell.

He was born June 21, 1911, on a family farm near Sharon, son of the late Ephraim Devore and Olive (Willis) Morris.

Mr. Morris attended the one-room Danford School near his home. He had owned and operated the farm where he was born, and attended Caldwell free Methodist Church.

He leaves his wife, Luella Miracle Morris, whom he married March 31, 1937, at Caldwell Free Methodist Church parsonage; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) White and Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Lincicome of Caldwell; two sons, Ivan (Jewel) Morris of Hobe Sound, Fla., and Gerald (Wanda) Morris of Marietta; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Irvin (Verna) Foraker of Beverly, Mildred Cisler of Heath and Mrs. Charles (Virginia) Crawford of Reynoldsburg; several first cousins.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Pastors William Pickenpaugh and Dave Well officiating.

Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.

FRANCIS J. ‘PAT’ PATTERSON

Francis J. “Pat” Patterson, of Cambridge, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001) at his home.

RALPH L. PRICE SERVICES

1915-2001

Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Union Cemetery, Morristown, for Ralph LeRoy Price, 85, of Lore City, who died Friday (Feb. 9, 2001) at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell.

Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home.

MARTIN O. HUGHES

1913-2001

GRANVILLE — Martin O’Neil “Marty” Hughes, 87, of Granville, died Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at Heath Nursing and Convalescent Center.

He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Senecaville, son of the late John Sylvester and Jennie (Raine) Hughes.

Mr. Hughes was a retired machinist at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. in Newark. He was a former employee of the Continental Can Co. in Cambridge.

He was a 1932 graduate of St. Benedict High School in Cambridge and attended the University of Dayton.

He was a member of the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, Nite Owls Kaiser Bowling League, Wednesday Night Denison Bowling League, Kaiser Industrial Golf League at Granville Golf Course, Denison Golf League and Retirees Golf League, both of St. Albans Golf Course, Retirees Gold League at Raccoon Valley Golf Course, the Kaiser Retirees “Old Man’s Meeting” at Buxton Tavern in Newark and the Granville Athletic Boosters.

He played semi-pro basketball in the 1930s with the Purol team sponsored by the Pure Oil Co. of Cambridge. He served as an assistant basketball coach for St. Benedict High School and coached Cambridge Little League Baseball and Kaiser Little League Baseball. While living in Cambridge, he was instrumental in the development of the Cambridge YMCA. For many years he served as a volunteer “ticket taker” for the Granville High School football games. He was proud to have had two holes-in-one, one at the Raccoon Valley Golf Course in Granville and one at Hickory Flats Golf Course in Coshocton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice Louise “Tice” (Rose) Hughes, on Jan. 14, 1985; two brothers Edward “Ted” Hughes and John Melvin “Pete” Hughes; two sisters, Irma Wilson and Gladys Wagner.

He leaves two sons, Martin V. (Mary Ann) Hughes of Easton, Md., and Tim (Nancy) Hughes of Granville; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Emily) Dickerhoff of Canton and Mrs. Greg (Megan) Dixon of Granville; a sister-in-law, Betty Campbell of Pleasant City; eight grandchildren, David Dickerhoff, Paul (Lisa) Dickerhoff, Sarah and David Hughes, and Cory, Jenny, Emily and Addie Dixon; a great-grandson, Gregory Dickerhoff; several nieces and nephews; his good old dog and friend, Christmas.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at McPeek Funeral Home, Granville.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Saint Edward the Confessor in Granville, with the Rev. G. Michael Gribble officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Granville.

Raymond A. Jones, 90, of Lore City, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cambridge.

SENECAVILLE — Services will be 11 a.m. today at Meek-Black Funeral Home, Senecaville, for Marie (Crow) (Medley) Curtis, 83, of Pickerington, who died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at Pickerington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The Rev. Ken Hyland will officiate. Burial will be in Senecaville Cemetery.

She was born June 22, 1917, daughter of Joseph W. Crow and Forest Meighen.

She was a former employee of Hamilton Beach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis; a brother, Joe Crow; a sister, Bonnie Potts; and a daughter, Carol Medley.

She leaves two sons, Albert (Nan) Medley of Reidsville, N.C., and John Medley of Gahanna; four sisters, Mrs. George Richey of Senecaville, Ruth Huggman of West Virginia, Mrs. Don (Betty) Chester of Pickerington and Mrs. Andy (Wanda) Grywalsky of Reynoldsburg; three grandchildren, Connie, Greg, Marty Joe, all of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

WOODSFIELD — Franklin I. Hanson, 88, of Woodsfield, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta.

GLEN L. KNICELY

1922-2001

NEW CONCORD — Glen L. Knicely, 78 of Cambridge, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001) at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Heaters, W.Va. (Braxton County), son of the late Harvey G. and Della (Harper) Knicely.

Mr. Knicely was a Methodist by faith. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of New Concord Village Council for four years, and VFW Post 1742 in New Concord.

He was owner of Knicely Plumbing and Heating for many years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert H. Knicely and Herbert J. Knicely.

He leaves his wife, Muriel (Dennison) Knicely, whom he married Oct. 16, 1944; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Patsy) McCourt of Cambridge; five sons, Roger L. (Joyce) Knicely of Columbia, S.C., Larry W. Knicely of Zanesville, Jerry L. (Kay) Knicely and Charles A. (Myra) Knicely, both of New Concord, and Steven R. (Janie) Knicely of Cambridge; a sister, Nelma Moss of Garretsville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mock-Miller Funeral Home, New Concord.

Services for the family will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New Concord, with his nephew, the Rev. William Knicely officiating.
