Patricia Louise “Patty Lou” Welsh,

BARNESVILLE — Patricia Louise “Patty Lou” Welsh, 83, of Erie, Pa., died Friday (Dec. 22, 2000) at Hamot Hospital, Erie, Pa.

She was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Barnesville, daughter of the late Harry D. and Dorothy L. (Mercer) Fowler.

Mrs. Welsh taught third grade in Pennsylvania schools for 25 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church and an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; a brother, John Fowler; two sisters, Betty Lee Fowler and Frances Eileen Fowler.

She leaves a son, Dr. Thomas (Sue) Welsh of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Barry (Kelly) Yellets of Derry, Pa., and Melissa Sue Murwalski of Romeo, Mich.; a brother, Ted Fowler of Barnesville; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a later date.

Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.

Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, is handling local arrangements.

ALFRED D. TREHERNE

1918-2000

SALISBURY, Md. — Alfred David Treherne, 82, of Salisbury, formerly of Chevy Chase, Md., died Friday (Dec. 29, 2000) at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 28, 1918, in Byesville, Ohio, son of the late Raymond and Ula (Cox) Treherne.

Mr. Treherne served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army/Air Force during World War II.

He was general counsel for District 50 of the United Mine Workers/United Steel Workers, during which time three cases were brought before the U.S. Supreme Court; all three cases were decided in favor of Mr. Treherne’s clients. He retired from the Bureau of Mine Safety, Department of Interior, in 1983.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Bette (Yearsley) Treherne, who died in 1999; and a daughter, Betheny Clem.

He leaves a son, David R. (Brenda) Treherne of Salisbury; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Cynthia T.) Borga of Seaford, Del.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bounds Funeral Home, Salisbury, with services to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Harris officiating.

Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park.

DOROTHY CONVERSE

1924-2000

BYESVILLE — Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, 2027 18th St. NE, Canton, for Dorothy (Bishop) Converse, 76, of Cambridge, who died Thursday (Dec. 28, 2000) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.

The Rev. Fr. David Tillman will officiate. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery, Summerfield.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

She was born May 20, 1924, in York, Pa., daughter of the late Albert W. and Hester (Merganthaler) Bishop.

Mrs. Converse was a homemaker and member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Canton.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Bishop.

She leaves her husband, Edward Converse; four sisters, Mary Emma Lehman, Evelyn Lois Forrey, Mrs. Phillip (Phyllis) Hoffman and Mrs. Jim (Norma Jean) Shearer.

Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville, is handling the arrangements.

F. JULIA FAES

1916-2000

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Frances Julia Faes, 84, a resident of Riverside Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Newcomerstown, formerly of Birch Road, Kimbolton, died Friday (Dec. 29, 2000) at the center.

She was born March 28, 1916, in Gnadenhutten, daughter of the late Marion and Laura M. (Johnson) Burdette.

Mrs. Faes attended Rush Township schools and was a homemaker all of her adult life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and raising flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Hubert Faes, who died March 20, 1979. They were married June 8, 1934. Also deceased is a daughter, Edna Ellen Faes.

Mrs. Faes was the last member of her generation of the Burdette family, having been preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, including Esther Garbrandt Albert Burdette, Mary Hunt, Pearl Johnson and Mae Gardner.

She leaves three daughters, Laura Helen Blind, Mrs. Glenn M. (Carol R.) Frenton and Mrs. Jim R. (Joyce A.) Ortt, all of Kimbolton; three sons, Donald Wesley Faes of Kimbolton, Edward Dean (Nancy J.) Faes of Port Washington and Steven R. (Becky) Faes of Cambridge; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Ourant Funeral Home, Newcomerstown.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Gnaden-Clay Union Cemetery, Gnadenhutten with Pastor Tim Tesch officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

CECIL D. CALVERT JR.

1941-2000

Cecil D. Calvert Jr., 59, of Cambridge, died Friday (Dec. 29, 2000) at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 17, 1941, in Cuyahoga Falls, son of Mary E. (Gorsky) Calvert of Coshocton and the late Cecil D. Calvert Sr.

Mr. Calvert was a welder, fabricator and designer. He was a Catholic by faith and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was a member of VA, Pleasant City, ABATE Assn. and CMA Assn.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Jeffery (Christina Lynn) Royer of Georgia; a son, Richard C. (Kathy) Calvert of Cambridge; a brother, Ted H. Calvert of Cambridge; a half-brother, Kent Calvert of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
