Leola M. Durben, 77, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (Dec. 13,
2000) at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
She was born Nov. 5, 1923, in Freeport, daughter of the late James
F. and Bertha (Decker) Rowland.
Mrs. Durben was a retired housekeeper at the former Guernsey
Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Golden Sixties, River of Life Fellowship
Church, Cancer Copers, the Right to Life group and was an active
member of the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center.
She was a member of support groups for heart patients, diabetes
patients and disabled patients while she worked at the hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold V. Durben, who
died in 1971. They were married Oct. 19, 1940. Also deceased are
four sisters, Mary Crabtree, Alice Anderson, Thelma Mathews and
Nellie Williams.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Judy) Englehart of Huron; three
grandchildren, Jason Bennett of Sandusky, Kari Shumate of Adams
Mills and Krista Tuttle of Zanesville; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Thorn-Black Funeral
Home, Cambridge, where services will be 10 a.m. Saturday with
Pastor Harold Wamsley officiating.
Burial will be in North Salem Cemetery.
DONALD RIDGELY
BYESVILLE Donald Ridgely, 60, of New Concord, died
Wednesday (Dec. 13, 2000) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical
Center, Zanesville, following injuries sustained in an automobile
accident.
Arrangements are pending at Black Family Funeral Service,
Byesville.
RONALD SLOAN
1916-2000
WOODSFIELD Ronald R. (Oss) Sloan, 84, of Woodsfield, died
Tuesday (Dec. 12, 2000) at the Monroe County Care Center.
He was born June 26, 1916, in Monroe County, son of the late E.A.
(Oss) and Jessie Christy Sloan.
Mr. Sloan retired from the Woodsfield Street Department, where he
served as superintendent.
He was a member of Woodsfield Church of Christ and a former
member of Switzerland of Ohio Country Club.
He was a veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Hedi Diane; a
sister, Bonnie Rousenberg.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Ethel (Foraker) Sloan of
Woodsfield; a son, Ray Sloan of Woodsfield; a sister, Marjorie
White of Worthington; a grandson; a granddaughter; a
great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bauer-Turner
Funeral Home, Woodsfield, where services will be 1 p.m. Fridays
with Minister Harry Summers officiating.
Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
WILLIAM TODD
1925-2000
ZANESVILLE William C. Todd, 75, of South Zanesville, died
Wednesday (Dec. 13, 2000) at Genesis-Bethesda Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Derwent.
Mr. Todd retired in 1987 from Ferro Alloy, where he served as a
supervisor.
He was a member of South Zanesville Church of the Nazarene.
He was a veteran, having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie E. Todd.
He leaves his wife, Donna M. Todd; three sons, James L. Todd of
Dalton, Ga., Gregory A. Welker of Zanesville and Scott E. Welker of
Nashport; two daughters, Jeanann Dickerson of South Zanesville
and Lori K. Johnson of Roseville; a sister, Marjorie Voytko of
Canton; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bolin Funeral
Home, Zanesville, where services will be 10 a.m. Friday with the
Rev. Richard Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Military graveside services
will be conducted by VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
